Werecat Avenue
Yes, ma’am. I will page
him now,” The nurse said as she hurried away. Brianna stood in the
hallway and took a deep breath. Down the hall she saw Charity
running toward her.
“ My Queen, I’m here. How
can I serve you?”
Brianna couldn’t hold it in anymore. She
grabbed Charity and began sobbing uncontrollably.
    “ Oh, Charity, he doesn’t
remember me, he has no memory of anything.” Brianna continued
crying.
Charity pulled back and smiled at Brianna.
“This is good news don’t you see” Charity said to her friend
soothingly.
    “ What are you talking
about?” Brianna sniffled.
“ You can make him fall in
love with you; it can be a new start. He will forget all about the
mistress and you can have your happily ever after.”
“ Do you really think so,
Charity?”
“ I know so, now go inside
and be with your husband, I will be downstairs in the lobby if you
need me.” Charity walked away leaving Brianna. She wiped away her
tears and smoothed out the wrinkles from her dress. She slowly
walked back into the King’s room. He looked like he was asleep. She
sat next to him on a chair and put her head down on his lap. She
lay there and thought to herself she would take advantage of the
situation.
He will love me this time; I will be his
perfect wife.
    Brianna felt a hand start stroking her hair;
she smiled as she looked up at her husband.
“ You are my wife?” He asked
as Brianna sat upright.
“ Yes, and we are very much
in love.”

Chapter 16
Cam was sitting at the kitchen table eating
a snack of cheese and crackers. Gretchen came in the house looking
out of sorts.
    “ Gretchen, is everything
alright? You look pale.” Cam said as she swallowed down her
food.
    “ Cam, I’m sorry but I
fucked up.”
    “ Gretchen, what did you
do?”
    “ I met a guy at work, a
Fae. We went for a swim and he walked me home. He sensed you in the
house. It turns out, well…”
    “ Please Gretchen, just tell
me.”
    “ He’s the Fae enforcer, I’m
so sorry Cam I had no idea, I just thought he was a cute guy.”
Cam stood up abruptly and ran out of the
kitchen toward her bedroom. Gretchen chased after her. Cam was in
her bedroom packing.
“ Please Cam, stop. He isn’t
going to take you. He’s taking me on a date later and he just wants
to talk to you. He’s working for the King. He wants you back Cam,
don’t you want that?”
Cam stopped packing and sat on her bed. She
ran her hands through her hair in an exasperated manner, and
started crying. Gretchen ran to her and they both cried
together.
From the hallway Richard appeared in the
doorway with a worried look on his face. “Cam is everything okay?”
Cam release Gretchen and ran into Richard’s arms. He kissed her
forehead as he tried to calm her in a soothing voice.
Gretchen sat on the bed, stunned, with her
mouth hanging open. Why would Cam run to Richard? Was there
something going on she should know about? Cam, realizing what she
did, pulled back from Richard, quickly apologizing.
    “ Hey beautiful, never
apologize. Now tell me what the problem is,” Richard said to Cam as
he stroked her hair.
“ It’s the Fae Enforcer. He
found me. He’s going to take me back to the King; I don’t want to
go. I don’t love him.”
    Richard’s eyes narrowed
with a fury. Oh shit! Gretchen thought. I know what this means.
“ I will kill him where he
stands if he tries to lay one dirty finger on you. You will always
be safe with me.” You’re mine, not
his, Richard thought to
himself.
Cam’s eyes widened with surprise and relief.
She hugged him tightly, feeling his arms move around her. She
snuggled up to him, feeling right at home; never wanting to leave
his big arms.
    “ Can I say something?”
Gretchen interrupted. “The king wants to find you, not imprison
you. Just talk to him. Set up an arrangement so he can visit with
the baby when he or she is born. He can’t force you to be with
him.”
“ He’s the King; he can
imprison me and take my
