want to see her again.
“It gives us freedom,” Julia continued. “We don’t have to agonize about what’s right or wrong. Instead, we learn to discipline our own unruly minds and bodies. We become finely tuned instruments, shaped by a Master at his craft.” Impulsively, she patted Sarah’s cheek. “You’ll love being a Dragon girl, my dear. No one was ever born to it more than you.”
In other words, Sarah was special. She gulped, nuzzling her cheek against the fabric of Julia’s shirt. She wanted to ask thousands of questions, but she didn’t know what to ask first. Finally, she settled on one. “You talk as if you care about me now, but before you acted as if you thought I was the worst person ever. Why are you nice to me now and mean before?”
Careful , Julia thought to herself. Don’t give all your secrets away, or the girl will lose all of the training she’s learned so far. She had known it was a risk to take on this girl’s training. She had fought Richard, but his pressure had been too skillful. The girl’s almost ethereal sweetness would make her one of Dragon’s best submissive girls, if Julia could keep her head. Julia had to stick with time-honored principles of training to ensure Sarah were prepared for her future, or they would both be in trouble. Out loud, she adopted the lightly scolding tone of an aunt to a favorite niece. “Girls who get their own way all the time become spoiled, selfish, and appalling monsters. You’ll cry more days than not while you’re in my care, but I’ll always be nice to you when you’ve earned it. As you progress through your training, you’ll realize that ‘being nice’ means a lot more than flowers and kisses. We want you to be a well-disciplined, well-regulated, well-adjusted girl who will thrive with her new Daddy.”
A funny queer feeling crept into Sarah’s chest. She hadn’t liked being brought to this new place, but she was just beginning to get settled in. What if she got sent to someone worse? She didn’t like all, or even most, of the things Julia did to her, but she was someone familiar. Better to stay with the devil she knew rather than face someone new. “Maybe I don’t want to go.” She meant to say it defiantly, but Julia’s stroking of her hair made the words come out with softness instead.
For a full minute, Julia was unable to speak. She could hear the unspoken end to the girl’s question, “… and maybe I want to stay with you.” The girl could not have meant it. No one, after such a short time, could feel an attachment to a Nurse who had made her first two days miserable. Sarah was speaking from shock and not real emotion. But no matter how hard Julia tried to convince herself, the innocence of the girl’s words took her breath away. To hide her sudden rush of emotion, she picked up the blue paper gown lying on the end of the exam table. “Dragon girls are trained to serve their Masters, pet. My situation is different.”
“But…” Sarah could not believe she cared, but she already hated the thought of leaving this terrifying and fascinating woman. Any sane person would want to leave someone who beat her backside like a drum and diapered her like a baby, but there was something so vibrantly real about this Nurse. “I want—“
“Enough.” Julia made her voice cold. She had allowed too many liberties already. If Sarah dissolved into a meltdown, Julia had only her own indulgence to blame. “Put on the gown while I buzz the nurse.”
Sarah’s training may have only been twelve hours old, but she knew an order when she heard one. Obediently, she stood up and took the crinkly paper. For most patients, it meant taking off their clothes. For Sarah, however, it meant a much-welcome covering of her body. Sarah rustled into her paper clothing. If only Julia would continue talking to her that way, like a friend. Sarah hated to think what would happen next, and her stomach tightened.
    “Listen, if you misbehave for
