and
embarrassed. I am sorry, I feel stupid. I am happy for your chef, though, looks
like he’s going to have a good night with the Mrs.,” she said coyly.
That had done it. He was up and in
front of her in a flat second.
“Jordy, I have a horrible temper
and I am warning you now, shut the fuck up.”
“I know you well enough to know you
wouldn’t hurt me, Tite,” she said, unable to keep her voice from shaking.
“You don’t know fucking shit, and
you should really think twice about the things you say and do, instead of going
with whatever pops up in that fucking head of yours.”
“But you can pop off at the mouth
and say whatever you want to me, right?”
She rolled her eyes at him, knowing
telling him that she did it to start the day off right and just wanted to make
him laugh, make him happy, was pointless.
He was fuming now. The eye roll
pissed him off even further.
He leaned in close to her and put
his hands behind her on the wall.
“Careful Jordy, I am not playing
fucking games with you and don’t come pissing on me because you feel fucking
stupid with the dumb ass stunt you just pulled.”
He enunciated every word, as if he
was hitting her with them.
“Fuck it, then. Have a car take me
home. I don’t need this shit any more than you do. Sorry I ruined your fucking
image of me by trying to be funny and sexy and available. I could think of a
million things I could have done, and a lot worse, but it’s too easy to ruin
your fucking day.”
Fuck, did she just tell him to take
her home?
No!
She didn’t want to go.
“Better yet, I will call myself a
fucking cab. I am sorry, Tite. I do feel fucking stupid. And even more so for
expecting that you had a human bone in your fucking body and might understand
it was a just a mistake. I hoped that maybe you could give me a pass, just this
once, while we had this time together, but since Sunday night you have gotten
into a fight, yelled at your crew, and now you’re itching to what? Hurt me?
Make me cry. Forget it. I won’t give you the satisfaction.”
“It was Tony,” he snapped, “he
caught me off guard in your parking lot and starting punching me in the fucking
face, Jordy. I didn’t have a choice but to fight back.”
And with that, all of the color
went out of her face and she slumped down against the wall, falling to her
knees. She gave in, sitting on the floor and looking up at him, as if to say he
had won.
“I had no idea, Tite. I didn’t even
think about that possibility, God, I am so sorry.”
Where did this stammer come from?
She had developed a stammer in a week.
TONY had hit him, busted his lip,
and blacked his eye!
“Jordy!” He started to fire at her
again, but stopped.
He was still standing over her,
still fuming.
What the hell was going on with
this girl ?
Then he remembered the doctors’ words,
“Too much, too soon.”
He studied her face, forcing
himself to calm down. She looked so beautiful, he had wanted to fuck her
up when he she came out of the bathroom, but when he looked at her, he was
drained.
When he took his first look at her
in the elevator, his first response was of pure delight but then he remembered
they weren’t alone and it all escalated so quickly.
He knew his temper was the main
reason he stayed alone and she had just confirmed that for him.
He needed to go ahead and cut this
one loose.
She was getting under his skin and
getting the best of his temper.
This was a bad combination.
He didn’t want her to leave, not
yet, he admitted it. He also admitted to himself that they both had gone
through a lot of trouble just to be together and here they were, fighting on
their very first day.
He took a seat next to her, against
the wall and they looked at each other.
They studied each other’s face for
what seemed like forever and he saw one single tear slide down her cheek.
Fuck no, Jordy, fuck no. Don’t do
this!
“I am just really embarrassed,” she
whispered.
