God for that. And I just hope Brad keeps to verbal abuse, because that I can deal with. If he touches me I know it will start small and will only be a matter of time before it escalates.”
Their food came and they ate talking about their living arrangements. Ana promised to start looking for an apartment for Stefano, now that she was fit again. She would have to carry most of the research online and then go and view the places once she narrowed down the places. They both agreed they hadn’t had such a hard time when they had looked for their own place. Or where one bedroomed apartments just that much harder to find? Definitely more expensive and smaller.

A few days later Ana and Kelly passed by their apartment. They had just spent a couple of hours doing some charity work. “We should order pizza,” Kelly said as they took the elevator to their floor.
“We should. Just like old times,” Ana agreed.
As soon as Fuzzy opened their front door, they both heard shouting from him and someone in their apartment. Jimmy grabbed them and pulled them back then went to join his partner.
“Do you think that guy broke into our apartment?” Ana asked.
Kelly shrugged. She opened the door slowly and peeped in. “Oh, God. Ana, it’s Vinny.” She pushed the door wider and ran inside.
Ana followed and looked at Vinny, seeing lots of blood dripping from his front. She hadn’t heard any shots being fired. Were the guys using silencers? She heard Fuzzy scream at Kelly to stand back, but Kelly ignored him and ran to Vinny. Ana dodged Jimmy and followed Kelly who was already pu shing Vinny into a chair.
“He’s a friend,” Ana explained when they both continued raising their guns at Vinny.
    Fuzzy swore. “A mobster?”
“Alleged,” they both answered, not taking their eyes off Vinny.
“What the hell happened Vinny? And why the B&E?”
Vinny laughed. “You staying glued to Law & Order, Kelly?”
Ana hissed at him. “We don’t have much time, Vinny,” she warned looking at Jimmy who was on the phone. He was either talking to Gabe or Rafe, and it was just a matter of time before they had company.
“Let’s see,” Kelly said already lifting Vinny’s t-shirt from his body. “What the hell, Vinny?”
“Sorry, got careless and thus the stab wound. Can you stitch me up?” he asked and fluttered his eyes at them.
“Ever heard of a place called a hospital, Vinny?” Ana asked him.
“Hospitals have to report stab wounds, so couldn’t chance it.”
“Watch him A na, while I collect my supplies,” she told her. “And stop fluttering your eyes at us,” she told Vinny.
“Don’t you have a family physician?” Ana asked him as Kelly ran to her bedroom.
Vinny laughed and cried out in pain. “You mean mob physician?”
Ana knelt in front of him and squeezed close to the wound she had seen Kelly reveal. “Arg! Ana.”
“Don’t get smart with me. Right now I’m the only reason why you don’t have a bullet hole next to your knife wound. And any minute now, all hell is going to break lose, so you need to start talking. What happened?”
“Take off your shirt,” Kelly said to Vinny as she knelt next to Ana. “Ana, I need you to get a bottle of something strong from Gabe’s stash. Brandy or whisky, whatever for Vinny to drink. Then I need you to help me.”
Ana moved to the side to give Kelly room , then she stood up to do Kelly’s bidding. When she came back, Kelly had cleaned the wound and dried blood from Vinny’s side where she could see the ugly wound. Jimmy and Fuzzy were hanging in the background, their weapons close by, but at least no longer threatening the poor guy.
“Drink up, Vinny,” Kelly said pointing to the bottle in Ana’s hand. “Ana, the gloves.”
Ana opened the bottle and gave it to Vinny who took two huge sips, then handed the bottle back to Kelly. As she took the gloves beside Kelly, Kelly grabbed the bottle from Vinny and placed it beside her.
