about eight thirty she wanted to make sure she told Lily good night. I agreed
that I would not get out but I wanted her to allow me to follow her home just
so I knew she got there safely.
When she turned into her driveway
I slowed behind and rolled down my window. After she closed her car door she
walked to mine and kneeled down at my window. “Thanks for being so sweet and
thanks for caring.” She leaned in the window and gave me a kiss as she placed
her hand in my hair at the back of my head to pull me closer. “Will you text me
when you get home please.” I gave her one more kiss “Yes I will.” She stood and walked to her door turning to wave before walking
in. As I drove home I thought about how I could work it out to be able to see
her tomorrow. I had practice and then a night class. During the week was going
to be so rough.
Fifteen
* Zoey *
When I went into the house it was
dark except the light coming from the hallway that led upstairs. When I reached
Lily’s room my mother was tucking her in she was holding a book in her hand,
“Hey Lil can I read you your story?” She turned and smiled so big I almost lost
it right then. I fought back my tears. After my mother kissed her she walked to
the door looking up into my face and that is when she noticed the mark on my
cheek she reached up to touch my face and I shrugged away “Oh Zoey I am so sorry I did that.” Her eyes were full of tears
and I was so close to losing it. “So Lily May what are we reading tonight?” I
asked her as I walked passed my mother and crawled into bed with her snuggling close.
At this moment she was my security.
When we had finished the book and
I was asking how her sleep over went my phone beeped. I grabbed it from my back
pocket looking at the screen.
‘Honey I’m Home!’
Luke’s text made me smile.
Lily asked me who that was from
and I told her a special friend. I kissed her good night and went to my room to
get ready for bed. I send a quick reply to Luke.
‘Thanks for making me smile’
His response came very quickly.
‘I love making you smile…Sweet

This boy was weakening me in a
good way I only hoped I didn’t get hurt in the end.

A couple minutes later my phone
began vibrating and it was Luke in swimming trunks standing on the beach across
my screen. “Hi” I spoke into the phone quietly. “I just wanted to hear your
voice before I closed my eyes and to tell you that I always dream about you Zoey . The difference now is when I dream of kissing you I
really know what your lips truly feel like against mine.” I just sighed as I
felt overwhelmed with emotion for what he was saying and for what had happened
earlier all wrapped up it was hitting me again. “Good night beautiful
girlfriend,” I smiled under my tears and whispered “You know you’re getting
pretty good at the whole sweet boyfriend thing Luke… good night.”
I fell asleep with sweet visions
of Luke and imagined I was back on his couch with him snuggled into his chest
and felt his light exhale blowing into my hair.
Monday morning was quiet and a
little uncomfortable I tried to hide everything from Lily as best as possible.
Sophia met me outside handing me the bag I had requested her to bring it was
great that her mom worked at a pharmacy...and we walked into school together.
In first hour when I walked into class Ashley was sitting down at her desk
flirting with a couple guys and I had to admit it was the perfect setting for
payback. I reached into the bag and pulled out the tube of cream I walked
straight to her desk and she looked up at me with a snotty smirk. I threw the
cream in front of her and said “Ashley tell your mom next time you need a
