the face of an enraged Jenni.
“That hurt,” he said, sitting up and looking at the three faces staring at him. Then he chuckled. “Shall we get to business?”
“You are going to tell your men to abandon this, or if they’ve already got her, you tell them to let Maisie go.” Jenni leaned forward and dug in his pockets, pulling out his cell phone and thrusting it at him. “You tell them.”
“Of course.” He took his phone and scrolled until he saw the number he wanted, and then he pressed the screen to make the call. “Hello, Robby? You have the package.” His smile widened. “Good, you take her to the rendezvous. If I’m not there, throw her in the lake.”
Jenni screamed and grabbed at Stanhope; Cade reached for her and pulled her back. “What kind of monster are you?” Cade spat.
“The kind who always gets his own way.” He stood up and brushed his clothes to get rid of the dirt from the tarmac.
“We have you in custody. You are going to be charged with stealing evidence and kidnapping,” Isabelle said, coming towards him with her handcuffs.
“No, no, no. I am going to drive out of here, and then I’ll let you know your new assignments.”
“What are you talking about?” Cade asked, picking up the gun from the ground and pointing it at Stanhope.
“I’m talking about you all working for me. If not, that little baby is going to die.”
“Is that what you do? Blackmail people?” Isabelle asked.
“Yes. You will work for me like Jenni works for me.”
“Because you set her up? By stealing the drugs and money from the case she was working.”
“Come on, let’s not get nasty. We can all get on well if you do as you are told. It’s only the same as we have all been doing for all of our lives while working for the police department. All you have to do is pretend you are working undercover. Only I’m getting the goods. I’ll even pay you a fair wage.” He smiled benevolently. “I want you to be happy.”
Isabelle lifted her phone to her ear. “Got that?” she asked. The voice on the other end must have said yes. “Stanhope, I’m arresting you.”
    “Wait!” Jenni said.
    “Jenni, it’s OK.”
“No, it’s not. I don’t want to get you in trouble if your prisoner gets attacked while in your custody.” With that, she leapt onto Stanhope’s back, and dragged her nails across his face.
Cade fumbled with the gun. It took him several minutes to pick it up and hand it to Isabelle, several minutes for Jenni to enjoy meting out her anger and hatred on the man who had tried so hard to ruin her life, before he managed to pull her off.

Chapter Eighteen – Isabelle
“Good morning,” Isabelle whispered as Cade opened his eyes.
“Good morning to you.” He kissed her, and butterflies erupted in her stomach. Even after two months of living together, he still excited her as if they were on their first date. His hand slid over her stomach and then dipped lower. She was glad this was no first date.
He moved, rolling her over so she lay pinned beneath him, while his fingers explored her body, dipping into her sex and rolling over her clit, until she squirmed beneath him, wet and ready for him as always. She kissed his lips, her tongue teasing his as they entwined. Sighing, she stroked his back, her nails digging into his flesh as she urged him on.
Shifting his weight, he guided himself into her sex, and she longed to feel him inside her, filling her, stretching her inner muscles. They had explored every inch of each other’s body, had learned what the other liked, but it never got old making love to him. It just grew more right. She smiled, and broke their kiss.
He gazed at her mouth and then into her eyes as he inched deeper inside of her. “Can I help you with anything, Sheriff?” he asked, thrusting forward harder.
“Plenty,” she answered, lifting her hips to change the angle of her body.
“Always happy to do my duty.” He pulled back and then thrust into her, his
