    Part One
    Lisa
Lisa shut the door behind her, kicking off her heels with a sigh. The familiar scent of her house surrounded her, comforting her in a way that only home could.
Though she had recently purchased the three bedroom house in a nice neighborhood, Lisa had made every effort to make it her own. She filled the rooms with the furniture and art that she liked, molding it into a place that she could relax after a long day at work.
Recently graduated from College, Lisa worked a typical nine to five cubicle job. It wasn’t glamorous, but it paid the bills alright. Still, Lisa worried about her finances. She didn’t have any kids to support, but she had a mountain of student debt to pay off.
The house was an extravagant purchase for her, but she felt it necessary to start living the life she wanted. In a way, it was her reward for putting herself through college, which had been no easy feat. She was sick of living in tiny apartments and paying off someone else’s mortgage, or the obnoxious roommates she often had to live with during her college years.
She wanted a place of her own, and she thought she deserved it. The house payments were always made on time, but occasionally she did start to fall behind on her car payment when money became tight.
When she thought about the many years it would take to pay off her debt, the anxiety did sometimes creep in. But Lisa tried not to think of it that way. She wanted to be proud of her accomplishments, and would do whatever it took to keep it that way.
Lisa began her nightly ritual by padding across the carpet in her bare feet, relishing the plush softness between her toes. She flicked on the stereo to a soundtrack of soothing melodies that always helped her unwind after work.
After lighting her lavender scented candles and pouring herself a glass of red wine, she sorted through her mail and pulled the classifieds from the newspaper. Untucking her silky blouse from her skirt, she wandered down the hallway, armed for her mission.
In the master bedroom, Lisa turned on the taps in her garden tub, getting the temperature just right. She sat down on the ledge and poured in her favorite bath salts and oils, deciding that a little pampering was in order.
As the bath filled, she made her way to the vanity, and began washing her face. It was something Lisa usually liked to do, taking care of herself. Her body was a temple, after all.
But tonight, as she looked in the mirror, she frowned at the tired expression she wore. Though she knew she was a beautiful woman, with her mocha colored skin and ebony eyes, she could tell that her financial worries had been taking their toll on her.
She missed the carefree expression she usually wore, and decided then and there she was going to do something about it. She just didn’t know what
