more after our separation. I know how dark, lonely, and painful my life is without her in it. And, because of that, I am not wasting any more time.
As soon as I get close enough, I pull her into my arms and kiss her gently. I just can't get enough of her. I hope this feeling never goes away. “That sign is amazing, babe. I love the dedication at the bottom," I say as I kiss her on the forehead. She gives me a sad smile.
“I wish they could be here to see this place. I miss them both so much." I hate seeing her sad, especially when this is something I can’t fix.
“I know you do, so do I. They may not be here, but they see what you are doing and they are very proud of you." She smiles a little brighter at those words and it warms my heart.
"Thank you. I am going to go check on Jax." She kisses my cheek and heads toward the door.
When Amber goes inside to check on Jax, I fill Paul in on what I want to do and ask him to help me out. Once he has his instructions and is on his way, I go up to get my girl.
I’m walking up the stairs to Amber's office when I hear the two of them talking. I really try not to eavesdrop, but I hear my name, and well, I just can’t help it. Yeah, I know it was a shitty thing to do, but I never said I was perfect. I lean up against the wall outside her door.
"I remember the way you were in Atlanta ... how can you take him back after he did that to you?”
"Jax … it was all a misunderstanding. I told you he didn't do anything. I was the one who overreacted and left town without a word. I did that to myself."
"I'm sure you are going to blame yourself for all the booze, drugs, and women he's had over the last six years too, huh?" I really am starting to hate this guy with every fiber of my being.
"Jax, I told you those things because you are my friend and I needed a shoulder. Not so you could throw it in Kyle’s face. In a roundabout way, yes I do, and before you say another word, this conversation is done, Jax. I love Kyle; he is not going anywhere. So, back to your cousin coming to town. I'm sure we can find a spot for her when she gets here." That's my girl. I walk in with a huge smile on my face and place a chaste kiss on her lips.
“I think Jax can finish up on his own. Right, man?" I look at Jax, give him a sly grin, and turn back to Amber before she can protest. “You’ve been working very hard lately and I have a surprise planned for you." She smiles and starts grabbing her things.
"Okay, you should have everything you need to lock up, Jax. I will see you tomorrow," she says over her shoulder
"I'll be fine, have a good time." Amber can't see that the look on his face doesn’t match the tone in his voice. He isn't happy about her leaving with me. I can’t resist. I give him my best fuck you smile and pull Amber closer.

K YLE HELPS me in his truck, but before he closes the door he gives me a kiss that has me wanting to straddle him in his truck. Of course, he knows what he is doing. He laughs as he breaks the kiss and shuts my door. I hope bringing Jax here wasn't a mistake. I can feel the tension between the two of them from a mile away. I’m proud of Kyle though, he is handling it very well. So far. I’ll just have to make sure Jax knows there is nothing more than a friendship between us. I asked him here because he was very good at running the center in Atlanta and I know he will be a huge asset here. I just need to make sure that nothing will come between Kyle and me again. “Are you going to tell me where we are going?"
"No, that would ruin the whole part about it being a surprise." He gave me his sexy smile and a wink. I don't really like surprises, and he knows it. So, maybe, I can get it out of him. I unhook my seatbelt, lift the console, and slide into the middle seat next to him. I find the other seat belt, click it in place, and rest my hand on his thigh and my head on his shoulder. I start running my hand up his thigh over his rock hard abs and along his
