came over and flanked me on
either side.
“ Everything all right? ” Tank asked. Damn! I
must look bad if Tank thought enough to ask.
    “ I don ’ t
know, ” I sighed. My head
dropped into my hands.
“ Hey Ax. ” Colton called the
prospect over. “ Go in and make Dylan a
plate of food and take it up to her. ”
    “ You gotcha VP. ”
“ From the way you look right now
brother, I am sure Dylan feels the same way so I thought maybe she would not
want to come down for dinner. ”
    “ Thanks brother. ”
“ Hey, I care about her too. Tell me
what ’ s
going on. ”
“ She wants to leave. ” Each time I said it I
felt better that someone else knew, but felt worse because it made it that much
more true.
    “ She ’ s
not going anywhere, ” Tank chimed in.
“ How do you know? ” I asked, truly puzzled
to why Tank thought that.
    “ Cuz ’ Prez said she ain ’ t,
so she ain ’ t. ” Tank was so
matter-of-fact.
“ Yeah, but I am talking the long
run. ” I looked to Tank
knowing he was not done.
“ Well do something about it, ” Tank challenged. I
hate always being right!
“ Oh. Mr. Brooding Son-of-a-Bitch is
going to tell me I have to do something about it, ” I joked.
    “ Fuck, ” he paused. “ I
did. And look what it got me. My own personal Sunshine. So I suggest you stop
with the “ me or the club ” bullshit . . . ”
“ How did you know? ” I interrupted Tank.
“ Because you are 100 percent the
club and I could see you throwing that ultimatum at her on the first day you
found her. ”
    “ And you don ’ t
think she should pick the club? Hell her blood made this club. ”
“ I think she needs a reason to pick
the club. Look what the Hellhounds did to her. ” Colton finally joined
the conversation. “ She needs something or
someone to show her that this is different. That we are different. I am working
my brotherly angle. You need to work your sexy ass angle. ” Tank barked out a laugh
and Colton and I followed.
“ Your pop said she needs time. ”
“ She probably needs that too, but
unfortunately we are running out of that considering this ends in a week, ” Colton pointed out.
    “ Touch é ,
my brother. Touch é . ”
“ Colton. Knox. Cellar NOW! ” bellowed Prez as he
stormed from his office and out the front door.
“ Rabbit stay, ” Colton commanded. “ Gunner,
leave the brothers on the gate and grab four more for parameter check, then
post them on each of the doors. Come find me when you ’ re
done. ”
“ Done, ” he replied as he ran
off.
“ What the fuck is going on? ” I asked as I stood with
Tank and Colton as brothers cleared out of our way.  Ax came out of the kitchen
carrying Dylan ’ s food.
    “ That visitor wasn ’ t
a visitor at all. And we caught the bastard, ” informed Wesson.
“ What do you need from me? ” asked Ax.
“ Take that to Dylan and then be in
here with Rabbit, ” commanded Colton.
    “ Yes sir. ”
With that I followed Wesson and Colton out in the
eerily quiet evening, and down into the dank cellar where men were taken to scream
their secrets into the night.

CHAPTER FOURTEEN

I quickly showered and was drying off when a knock
sounded. If Knox knew what was good for him he would give me more time. But
when was the last time Knox knocked?
    “ Just a second, ” I yelled. Throwing on a
pair of jean cut-offs and a tank top, I opened the door. A gasp of surprise
left me when I saw who was at the door.
Holy shit! Max stood in my doorway.
    “ Max, ” I whispered as I pulled
him into the room. I stuck my head out and looked up and down the hallway to
find it empty. “ What are you doing
here? ” I looked him over and
saw the cut with Prospect on his chest. “ You ’ re
a fucking PROSPECT for the Soul Reapers? Does Sam know? ”
“ It was our idea, ” he said. “ And
it ’ s
Ax now. ”
    “ What the . . . How the . . . What
the fuck is going on? ” I paced back and forth in the room
trying to take
