movement. Suddenly, he was kneeling next to her and holding her
shoulders. “Because it’s not right, Mary. I can’t trust myself
around you.”
“Mr. White, I don’t mind it! I want you!”
He shook his head sadly. “You don’t know what
you’re asking for, Mary. I am not an easy man to please.”
    “But—!”
“I’m sorry,” he said in a final tone. “Go on,
Miss Kramar. Get back to work.”
His frosty tone had returned and Mary
recognized the dismissal. Sniffing slightly, she stood up and left
wordlessly. A sinking feeling in her stomach filled her with angst.
For a few glorious hours, she had the world’s most eligible
bachelor to herself. Somehow, she had ruined her chance with
him.
An idea struck her mind so quickly that it
drove all her bad feelings away. All she had to do was get him so
angry that he would lose control. Mary bit her lip nervously as she
contemplated the idea. Suppose he fired her outright? If he
fires me, I’ll go to the press.
Earlier that day, a coworker had emailed her
a link to a social media website. She nearly spat out her coffee as
she recognized herself hanging on Mr. White’s arm. Great, she had thought. As if I don’t have enough problems. Now,
she recognized it as a blessing. If Mr. White did anything to her,
like fire her, all she had to do was make a statement to the
press.

Mr. White had a quarter close meeting in the
afternoon in the conference room. Mary had booked it in a room with
plenty of windows and had deliberately opened the shades. She also
had unbuttoned her blouse so that a hint of cleavage was showing,
and had neglected to wear underwear or nylons. Mary had also
ordered lunch for the meeting and had made sure that it contained
lots of garlic. Mr. White loathed the smell of garlic. Anyone who
brought food containing garlic in the office was guaranteed to have
their lunch tossed in the trash. In one occasion, he had thrown
someone’s lunch out the window, suffering burns from the sunlight
in the process. Garlic was banned in the office. It was a policy as
strict as his no sunlight edict, and Mary was about to break both.
Mary shuddered at the wrath she was about to incite.
“This way,” she murmured to the group of men
waiting at the elevator. She would be attending the meeting as
well. Mr. White liked to use her for note taking; she only hoped
that this would be enough to provoke his rage. She smiled sweetly
as she held the door open for the gentlemen. Down the hall, Mr.
White was surrounded by the heads of sales and marketing as they
made their way towards the room.
They bowed their heads in acknowledgement to
her and entered the room.
“That smells great,” one of them said.
Mr. White paused beside her, his legs
stiffening under his charcoal grey suit. She could feel the heat
emanating from the man; his magnetism drew her close like a fly
lured by sweet, deadly poison. She could smell his cologne, and
remembered how the smell had clung to her sheets when she woke up.
She could still feel his cool hands forcibly parting her legs, his
member slamming into her as his lovemaking reverberated throughout
her body.
The room stunk of garlic as they began
ladling food onto their plates. The shades were also half open,
allowing slivers of light throughout the room. Mary glanced at his
profile and saw him hesitate. His lips pulled into a cruel grin as
he realized what she had done.
Mary fled the heat of his gaze and ducked
inside before he could utter a word. She sat down near his seat and
made a show of arranging her notes. Mr. White stood frozen at the
entrance.
The men began to glance at him curiously as
he continued to stand in the doorway. Everyone was seated and
waiting for him. He could not sit down with them without calling
attention to the shades and embarrassing himself. Mary propped her
face on her arm and gave him a quizzical look. As his gaze swept
across the room, his eyes fixed on her with an expression of cold
fury. His
