through the speakers as the techs adjusted the lighting for the first scene.  Denise smiled at the feeling of satisfaction that filled her heart.
My first show.  Wow!  Thank You, God.  It’s going to be awesome.
    Hours later they were finished.
“You girls are the true definition diva!  I’m so amazed at you all.”
    “Thank you.”
“Alright, don’t forget to return your badges to Keisha and sign out before leaving.  Great job.  See you all tomorrow.”
“Awww!”  Ted screamed once everyone had left the room.
“This is going to be an amazing show, Ted.  I can feel it.”
“I’m so happy.  All the girls came with their “A” game today.  They were really great.”
“Rita, come over here for a second,” Denise called.
    “Yes, ma’am.”
    “Rita, Ted.”
    “Nice to meet you, Ted.”
“Rita is the designer of the clothing used in this show.  She is brilliant!”
“Congratulations to you, Rita.  The girls looked fabulous.”
“Thank you so much,” she smiled.  “I’ve been working really hard on my latest designs.  I was a little nervous, but when Camille came here a few weeks ago for her fitting it all went away.  She’s a natural.  Then I met the other girls and they were just as great,” she smiled.
“I’m glad to have you as part of the team, Rita.  You’re one heck of an asset to our company.  So, is there anything else you need?  Material, threat, pins?”
“Actually, I think we may need some additional fabric.”
“Well, let Keisha know what you need and I’ll approve the request.”
    “Thank you, Mrs. Chatman.”
    “You’re more than welcome.”
“Well, Ted.  I guess that’s it for us.  I’ll see you tomorrow?”
    “Bright and early.”
“Oh, one more thing.  I still haven’t received Kristin’s background check yet.  She won’t be able to start until I have that on file.”
“My apology.  I thought I faxed that over last week.  When I get back to the office I’ll make sure I do that.”
“Thank you.  Be safe going back to the office.”
“I will.  Let me know if there’s anything else you need from me.  Have a good afternoon.”

Denise opened the door to her office as a huge smile encompassed her face.  She sat down at her desk and then picked up the phone and began to dial.
    “Hello?”
    “You answered.  Thank God.”
    “Hey, Denise,” she spoke solemnly.
“Oh, stop sounding like somebody has died.”
    Aprile sighed.
Denise took a deep breathe.  “I was calling to remind you about the book release.  I hope you’re still planning to come.  I really would like to have my sister there for support.”
    “Denise, I…”
“Look, before you say anything, Aprile, I want to apologize.  I hope I haven’t been too unsympathetic because the truth is I know exactly how you feel.  I was you years before DJ and I got together.  I’m sure you can remember me searching for love and giving all the love I had to people who couldn’t and weren’t willing to love me back.  It was a rough time for me and a hard lesson to learn.”
“ I hate what Alex has done to you and how you’re feeling as a result of it.  What I will say is that hurting people hurt people and though I can only speak for myself as to what happens to those people they hurt; I know it’s not a pretty sight.  I’m praying that you are comforted…soon.  The only thing that helped me when I was in your situation was the Word of God.”
    “Huh, thanks, Denise.”
Denise sighed.  “I know that’s probably not what you wanted to hear, but I swear that’s all I have to give.  That’s all I know.  Oh, one last thing.  I’m going to be able to do the Beauty for Ashes conference.  If you can’t make the book release, at least make it there.  I think it’ll be good for you to hear.  Love you, sis and I’ll talk to you later.”
    “Love you, too.”
Aprile hung up the phone and Denise inhaled deeply.  She ran her hands through her
