“Helen said you two needed to speak to me in regards to Chase, but she did not tell me who either of you are or how you know my son.”
“Mr. Logan, my name is Mark Newberry and my daughter Callie has been dating your son for the past eight months.” Mark said and noticed the surprised look that came into Stewart’s eyes when he realized who he was.
“Dr. Newberry, what brings you here this morning?”
“I came to discuss an issue regarding Chase. This isn’t easy to tell you, but I think Chase may have a drinking problem.”

Chapter Twenty-Seven

“Sir, I don’t know who you think you are, but I would know if my son was drinking. He’s a very smart young man and knows that drinking at his age is illegal.” Mr. Logan said in a clipped tone.
“Mr. Logan, Chase is a very smart young man, we all know that, but even smart young men choose to rebel and drinking is the most common form of rebellion amongst teenage boys.” Andrew told him, hoping to get him to understand the graveness of this situation.
“I think you’re wrong, but let’s call Chase in here and ask him.” Mr. Logan said and picked up his cell phone. He dialed a number and quickly spoke, “Chase, I need to see you in the library now.” Without giving Chase a chance to respond, he hung up and laid is phone down. “He’ll be here in just a minute.”
“Mr. Logan, do you honestly think he’s going to openly admit to drinking illegally? I don’t know any teenager who would do that. None of my boys would, that’s for sure.” Mark said, knowing that two of his sons had tried alcohol.
“If he lies I’ll know.” Mr. Logan said as Chase opened the library door and walked in.
“You wanted to see me, sir?” Chase asked, standing with his back straight and his arms at his sides like he was standing at attention and talking to a commanding officer.
“Yes. Chase, Dr. Peterson and Dr. Newberry came by to see me this morning. They are concerned because they think you may be drinking.” Mr. Logan said with a slight glance at Mark and Andrew.
Chase’s head snapped to the side and the color faded from his skin when he saw them sitting there. “Sir,” he said as his head turned back to his father, “I don’t know where they would get that idea from, but I have not been drinking. I know that drinking at my age is illegal and I would never do anything to ruin your image.”
“Chase,” Mark said as he stood from his chair. “Callie talked to me yesterday. She told me everything that’s been happening over the past couple of weeks.”
Chase’s face paled more and he locked eyes with his father. “I don’t know what he’s talking about, sir.” Chase said, but his voice was starting to break as fear of what his father might do overcame him.
“Chase Nathanial Logan, how dare you stand there and lie to me.” Mr. Logan said and Chase paled even more. “Dr. Newberry, Dr. Peterson, I am sorry for doubting you. Rest assured that I will take care of this.”
Mark and Andrew looked at each other and then back at Chase before either spoke. “Are you going to be okay, son?” Mark asked him.
“Yes, sir. Thank you for asking.” Chase answered with a shaky voice.
“You two may go. I need to have a private talk with my son.” Mr. Logan said as he walked over and opened the library door. “Helen will see you out.”
After taking one last look at Chase’s stiff form Mark and Andrew left, but neither felt comfortable with it.
Once they were outside and in Andrew’s car Mark said, “I did not like leaving him.”
“Neither did I. I think I’ll put in a call to my brother-in-law and let him know what I suspect.” Andrew said and made a mental note to call Bob after he got to the hospital for his rotation later.
As they pulled away from the house Mr. Logan watched from the library window. Once they were gone he turned to Chase. “How dare you lie to me in front of them.”
“I am sorry, sir. I didn’t want to shame
