he pinched her clit and gave a final press into her. She felt his
cum rush out of him and into her, filling her with warmth.
Amelia let go and her orgasm claimed
her. She screamed and grabbed onto the sheets below her as she pressed her ass
into Gage’s thighs. Panting and complete, she collapsed onto the bed.
Chapter Seven
Gage drew a bath while Amelia rested in
their bed. He’d used her hard. He’d needed to feel her so completely that he’d
pushed her. She hadn’t resisted, but a twinge of guilt racked him still at the
ferocity of his need for her. It had been hell to be away from her, to hear
about the betrayal of her supervisor and the kidnapping of her sister while not
being able to be sure she was safe. Caring for her now in this small way—bathing
her—would assuage his guilt over riding her hard.
While the water filled the tub with scented
bubbles, Gage carried Amelia and stepped into the tub with her still in his
arms. He sat and held her to him. Limply, Amelia rested her head on his
shoulder and moaned ever so softly as he sponged the sweat from her body.
“You are so beautiful, so right for me.”
Gage murmured reassurances, not sure if they were for her or for himself. “I
will always be here to protect you. Always.”
Amelia stirred and looked up at him. “I
know, Gage, and I trust you.”
He pulled her tight and placed a soft
kiss on her nose. How much he adored his mate. He was more smitten than he’d ever
believed he could be in a woman. For them to be part of this incredible
prophecy was more than he’d ever imagined for himself .
Her voice brought him out of his
reverie. “Will you tell me what you know? Your father told all of us about Dr.
Whitner but there were no details. And then when we discovered Sadie missing,
we heard nothing.”
“I’m so sorry, sweetheart. Every TEU
agent was sent out immediately. Only Madden and I returned to the compound. Dr.
Whitner is being held for questioning. Lucas believes he may be able to
leverage her life for information which can end this group trying to create
their own Breeds.”
“So it’s true. They are trying to create
Breeds.”
“Yes. All the data we’ve collected this
past year leaves no doubt.”
“Oh Goddess, no,” Amelia gasped. “I
helped them, didn’t I? I gave them the formula for the serum.” Amelia’s body
tensed and her words became frantic. “I knew it but no one would confirm it.”
“Hey. Stop right there. You didn’t do
this on purpose. And I’m going to fix it. TEU won’t stop until these bastards
are all eliminated.” Gage purposely spoke in a voice filled with conviction
despite his own concerns. He wanted Amelia to hear only confidence. That was
who he needed to be for her.
Amelia sat silent, shaking her head and
looking away from him. Gage couldn’t stand the pain he felt radiating from her.
“Look at me,” Gage turned her face to
him. “Had Dr. Whitner not agreed to work with them, your research wouldn’t be
used for this. Your intentions were pure. You have no blame in this.”
Amelia didn’t look convinced.
“Nod your head at me to tell me you
understand,” he demanded, his voice stern. “You have
to believe that.”
“I was selfish. Being angry that there
were no choices for women in the Magdalena
Circle drove me. It always comes back to my damn anger. Don’t you see that?
It’s never going away. Never,” Amelia shouted, growing more frustrated with
each word.
“We will put an end to that. Once we
celebrate our Pronouncement and receive that blessing, you’ll be released from
the hold of your soul sin.” Gage rubbed her arms and pulled her into him again.
He resumed sponging her body with the warm water to help her relax. “I promise
you.” Goddess, did he hope that was a promise he could keep.
After long moments of silence, her next
question was more difficult to make promises about. “What about Sadie? Will she
be safe?”
“We sent ten TEU agents to
