You Look So Much Better Than My Husband, do I have a clean bill of health?” Pres grinned from ear to ear, showing him how much he liked to tease.
“Oh, shut up, and come on.” Ric popped Pres on his ass, making him jump in surprise. He was hopeful that Pres was feeling so much better now and not squeamish about their hot shower scene.
He liked seeing Pres smile and laugh. He was willing to do anything to make him happy.

Chapter Fourteen

By the time they got to their building, Pres had sobered some from the pain medicine, and his hand was feeling a lot better, probably still numb from the lidocaine. He felt Ric reach for his good hand and lead them through the lobby.
“How’s your hand feeling?” he asked when they were in the elevator.
Pres looked in Ric’s general direction. “It’s still fine. I can’t thank you enough for helping me.”
“Yes, you most certainly can,” Ric whispered.
“Excuse me?” Pres raised one corner of his mouth, intrigued.
“Grilled salmon with orange fennel sauce,” Ric said and laughed. “What did you think I meant, beautiful?” Ric inched closer to him.
“I think it means someone’s been Googling me,” Pres stated. How else would Ric know of the recipe that had won him so many awards?
“I sure have,” Ric said boldly.
Pres thought if he leant forward even a little bit that he’d probably end up kissing the man right on his neck. He could feel Ric’s body heat in the small space and was not turned off. He couldn’t wait to get to his apartment. He wanted to know what Ric looked like. He remembered a nurse called him handsome…actually a couple nurses. Hell, one was willing to cheat on her spouse with Ric.
The mental image he was conjuring up in his head was taking a turn for the wicked and naughty. He couldn’t stop picturing some of the male models he’d seen in a charity calendar of Doctors Without Borders years ago in Angela’s old apartment.
    “You think I’m beautiful, Ric?”
“You’re breathtaking, Prescott. Why don’t you know that?” Ric whispered seductively in his ear.
Ric’s hot breath was doing funny things to his body, unfamiliar things. Things he hadn’t experienced in too damn long.
Pres had to consider if he was gay now. Would being in a relationship with a man really be any different? His disability had really done a head trip on him, thinking he had to settle for whoever was willing to give him a little affection. Dark thoughts crowded Pres’s mind. He’d dated women, he’d tried to make friendships with other guys, but ultimately everyone left him—woman or man. Ric probably would too…eventually. Maybe he just wants to know what it’s like to fuck a blind guy.
Victoria’s words tonight replayed in his head: “I have no further use for you.” Pres shook his head, trying to dislodge those depressing thoughts, only to have them be overtaken by another one: “This just isn’t what I signed up for.” Pres’s fiancée had said that before she slammed the door on their relationship. His heart still ached when he thought about her walking out on him . Pres put his good hand up to Ric’s chest and again was astonished at how solid and muscular he was. He took a hard gulp and pushed the man back a few steps.
“Don’t try to make it seem like you’re interested in me…I mean really knowing me. All you see is a weak little blind man that can be taken advantage of. Well, I’m not some stupid weakling, Dr. E, and I’m done with letting people walk all over me,” Pres spat and stormed out of the elevator as soon as he heard it open.
“What the hell? Hey, don’t you even think about it. Don’t you dare walk away from me like that, Prescott!” Ric yelled down the hall.
Pres hoped no one was in the hall or sticking their heads out of their apartments. Ric had a deep voice that carried. Pres pulled his key out and struggled one-handed to stick it in the lock, when he felt solid pressure slam against his
