to teach him how to do The Hustle.
“Right leg, back, back, back, together,” Amy
called out to him as they danced with everyone on the dance
floor.
“Busta move,” laughed Adam as he started
doing the Travolta move of the dance. By the time the
song ended he was just starting to get the hang of it.
The dance floor changed colors quickly now to
the tempo of Jive Talking by the Bee Gees, as the
Mirror ball sparkled on the tiles below. Amy started
doing The Bump with Adam.
“Jump, clap, hip,” Amy instructed keeping the
beat to the music. “Jump, clap, hip.”
“This is easier,” said Adam careful not to
bump her to hard.
“Switch,” Angie called out. She
danced with Adam as Amy danced with Joey.
“Hey, look at lover boy over
there.” Joey laughed as he pointed over at Bob who had a
pretty girl on each side bumping him. He had both arms
up in the air and kept perfect time to the music lapping up every
minute of the attention he received from the two hot chicks.
“This is a blast,” Amy said as they switched
back partners.
The dance floor lights dimmed and slowed down
in tempo. Adam pulled Amy close
as Your Love Had Lifted Me Higher by Rita
Coolidge came on. He breathed in the scent of her body
and swayed gently in rhythm with her. His world was
perfect when she was in his arms. He lifted her chin up
with his finger and gave her a kiss with all the love that filled
his heart. He felt her body as it moved even closer to
his, letting him know she felt exactly the same way.

Amy and Adam had spent the morning upon the
Empire State Building. The view was breathtaking,
overlooking New York and all the miles and miles of
skyscrapers. Afterward they had room service make them
up a picnic lunch and headed over to Central Park to spend the
afternoon.
They rode bikes around Central Park, enjoying
the beauty of the gardens and all the statuesque
bridges. In Shakespeare Garden they sat on the twenty
foot semi-circular stone bench known as the Whispering
bench. Adam whispered he loved her from one end of the
bench and she actually heard it. Amy softly whispered
back and he nodded that he had heard it too. They were on a mission
to absorb as much as they could before they had to leave tomorrow
for their trip home.
“That was a great idea you had about the
picnic and bike ride in Central Park.” Adam shut the
door behind him as they entered the suite. He picked Amy
up and carried her over to the bed placing her down
gently. She lay there with her hair cascaded around her
face, her eyes opened wide with anticipation.
Adam turned around reaching into his suitcase
as he took out something and hid it behind his back. He
sat down next to her on the bed and placed a small box on her
stomach which rose up and down from her breathing. Amy
reached for it as she sat up shifting her legs beside
her. She gazed down to see Tiffany’s boldly printed on
the lid, then lifting it off gently and held up a gold open heart
necklace.
“It’s beautiful,” she smiled up at him
feeling tears well up in her eyes.
“I love you Amy Marie
Makowski.” Adam knelt behind her on the bed as he lifted
her hair and placed the necklace on her. He softly
kissed the back of her neck. “You have opened my heart
up to a world that I never knew existed.”
Amy turned around and looked up at Adam as
tears of happiness spilled out of her eyes. “I love you
too.” She kissed him tenderly, this man who she loved
with all her heart. He was her lover and most
importantly, her best friend.
Chapter 10
“Amy, we’re home.” Adam whispered
into her ear as he gently shook her
shoulder. “Amy?” This time he tickled her
side until she slowly opened her eyes.
“Huh?” Amy yawned as she stretched
her legs out in front of her, noticing that they were in the drive
way. “Oh, we’re here.”
Adam hopped out of the truck,
