herself as they broke into a run. It felt
absolutely normal having Cammie running with them. As if she’d been with them
always. Too bad she wasn’t feeling it yet.
She will. She will , Jode answered.
“She seems like a nice lady,” Josh said as he grabbed the
container from Cammie’s clenched hand.
Cammie threw him a tight smile. She said nothing as she
released her grip and focused her attention far ahead of the road in front of
them, pretending nothing had just happened.
“She’s not our type at all, is she, Jode?”
“Not at all,” Jode called back.
Cammie’s taut smile relaxed and Josh noted her shoulders
sagging just a bit in relief.
Yep, she is definitely jealous. I wonder, is that a good
sign, brother? Josh asked.
I would think so. It means she’s interested in us, but
not yet confident that we are fully hers.
Josh nodded. It looks like we will have to rectify that
situation and fast.
I hear you, my man. I hear you loud and clear. I think by
the end of this day, we will have put any doubts about our interests in her
right out of her mind.
Agreed! Jode answered and he winked over Cammie’s
head at Josh.

Cammie had just slipped into her bathrobe when a sharp rap
erupted at her bedroom door.
“We’re not ready, yet, Cammie.” It was Jode. He didn’t open
the door but continued to speak on the other side.
“We’ve decided to take the shoot down to the main-floor
bathroom. It has a shower stall and it’s perfect for what we have planned.”
“Okay, I’ll join you in a few minutes.” She tried to keep
her voice light and airy as if she didn’t have a care in the world. As if she
was the utmost professional. But she was feeling anything but confident as she
listened to his footsteps fade away.
She wanted to run down to that bakery and pluck out Joyce’s
false eyelashes and shove them down her throat. How dare she bat her eyelashes
at Jode and Josh? She didn’t even know them.
And why had Jode and Josh acted perfectly normal over
breakfast? Acting as if that woman hadn’t been drooling over them? Aside from
that one comment from Josh about her not being their type, they hadn’t
mentioned her again.
While the two men had been busy taking turns taking showers
in the main floor bathroom, she’d angrily prepared the table for breakfast.
Then she’d gone for her shower and afterward, found them in the kitchen. They
had changed into fresh clothing and were eating like wolves, just like
yesterday morning. Their eyes had spoken of lust and interest while they’d
chatted about what a lovely run they’d had and wouldn’t it be fun to get
together ever morning and run around the lake?
Yeah, right. Who are they fooling? Once the deadline is
met, they are gone. A spring of tears bit against the back of her eyes at
the thought of her probably never seeing them again.
Oh crap, she was already hopelessly in lust with them.
Especially after what had gone down in the bathroom yesterday.
No-strings sex . She’d been able to convince herself
of that yesterday but today she wasn’t so sure. She wanted more than just sex
from them. Dammit, she wanted a relationship with both of them. She knew she
was thinking like a naïve teenager. Knew reality was nothing like fantasy.
Relationships required lots of work and love, and that was with one man. Here
she was wanting two of them after just a quick fuck while sitting in a bathtub
full of freaking bubbles.
Gosh, was she desperate or what? Cammie frowned and glanced
at the full-length mirror hanging on her bedroom door. The older woman staring
back at her was just that. Distressed and older than those two younger men.
Sure, she was still fit due to her taking good care of
herself, but she had at least ten years on them. She shook her head and bit her
bottom lip. She’d been silly in thinking anything permanent would happen
between her and Jode and Josh.
Silly. Silly. Silly.
