looked good.
Eva felt weak at the knees and she had to grip the bench for support. Against her will, her mouth curved into a smile and immediately she hated herself for it.
His eyes met hers and he walked over towards her, surprising Eva with his direct approach. Even though she’d been around him a lot lately, he never seemed interested in making contact with her. But something had changed in his expression tonight. His eyes were darker than she’d ever seen them. Almost smouldering as they burned into her.
“Why do you look at me like that?” She asked as he stopped in front of her.
“If you don’t like it I can stop.” He offered.
That was tricky. If she admitted to him she felt uncomfortable than he wouldn’t look at her at all. But if she told him she was fine, that was like admitting he’d got to her.
“You didn’t explain why.” She shot back feeling flustered all of a sudden.
Daniel blinked a few times and swallowed. “Everyone looks at you like that. You’re very attractive.”
Wow. Eva didn’t know what to say to that. She looked at her feet and blushed.
“That’s kind of weird” Eva hoped to fight back, but her voice was weak.
“Do you wanna dance?” Daniel asked flatly. For a second Eva thought she hadn’t heard right.
“You’re asking me to dance?” Eva asked.
    “Yeah.” Daniel shrugged.
    “If you insist.”
He took her hand and led her towards the dance floor. The band started playing ‘Oh what a Wonderful World’ by Louis Armstrong and Eva felt like she had just entered the perfect movie moment.
There was barely anyone else on the dance floor apart from them. Although she was nervous, it felt wonderful to be near him.
Daniel slid one arm around her waist and held her hand in the other. She tried to ignore how warm his arm felt against hers and tried to focus on getting her movements right. They were only moving in small circles but everything felt intense.
When she had the courage to look into his eyes, she saw something change. She wasn’t sure what it was, but they definitely got darker.
For a while they didn’t say anything. All they did was look at each other. It felt like the perfect moment. Daniel lifted his hand and twirled her body into a spin. Surprising her high heels had held up and she was capable of dancing in them without her feet tiring.
Daniel placed his hand on the small of her back. It felt wonderful – his warm, firm hand felt reassuring, like he wanted her there.
But just when everything felt right, she was roughly pushed aside, out of Daniel’s arms.
“Daniel.” Someone said in a soft voice.
After stumbling a little, Eva whipped her head around to see what had set her aside.
    Or who.
    It was Taya.
She had her arms wrapped around Daniel firmly trying to shield his vision of Eva.
You bitch. Adrenaline pumped through her veins. Don’t you dare take that away from me!
She must have been watching Eva too, because when her eyes met with hers, she was smiling. But it wasn’t nice at all.
She can’t just get away with that.
Eva walked up to her, feeling surprisingly calm and said
“Have I done something to offend you Taya, because I don’t know what has got into you?”
Taya let Daniel free from her grasp and glared at her, obviously pissed she had come up between them.
“Yes you have, a matter of fact.” Daniel is mine, not yours.”
Wow. “You say it like he’s you’re possession.”
Taya started to walked towards her and crazy fear began to kick in. She looked dangerous – those eyes were wild – a blazing fire.
But when Eva looked to Daniel for help, his eyes only widened. Confused fear crept through her. Why wasn’t Daniel helping her? Taya’s actions were horrible, rude; unthinkable. She couldn’t get away with that.
Feeling a sudden burst of energy, Eva stared at her evenly. Her blood was beginning to boil.
“Just go Eva.” Daniel said suddenly, his eyes watching her intently.
Eva snapped her eyes toward him
