arrived he knew he couldn’t leave Highland House until he had the completed drawing, but with it finished, the contract signed, and now Mila secure in his heart he didn’t have any plans.
“What if we take a trip?” he asked.
“A trip? What kind?” She followed him into the kitchen, her footsteps light behind his.
He opened the dry storage closet and found the flour and sugar. He began to assemble the ingredients for pancakes.
“We have some time before the cubs are here. I think we should take advantage of it. We can spend uninterrupted time together. I need to know everything about you. Let’s travel. I’ll take you anywhere you want to go. The Highland jet is at our disposal. Paris? Venice? Bangkok? Bermuda? I don’t know. All of them? Pick a place that will make you happy.”
    “Are you serious?”
“Completely.” He retrieved eggs and milk, lining the countertop with everything he thought he needed. Honey was the last part of the recipe.
    “But work?”
“I’ve got other architects. I’ll make sure the digital prints are what I need and then we’ll leave. How does next week sound?” He started searching through the oil and shortening. The honey had to be here somewhere.
“It sounds like I’m living in a dream.”
He grabbed the bottle and turned around, holding the golden liquid in his hand. “You know what my dream is?” His eyebrows waggled.
“You can’t be serious.” She giggled.
“I’m a bear, baby.” He twisted the top off.
“Won’t we get sticky?” Her eyes widened.
“Oh I intend to lick every inch of you clean.” He grinned, showing his teeth. “Probably more than once.” His chest rumbled. His bear felt playful and frisky. There was only one way to let him play.
Mila squealed and took off running down the hall, the quilt falling from her shoulders. “You’ll have to catch me first.”
He laughed. He ran after her, leaving the pancake ensemble on the counter. It could wait. As far as Crawford was concerned everything could wait. He had finally found his mate, and nothing was going to keep him from holding her in his arms.
