years older than you he’s…” I imagined the calculations grinding out in my aunt’s brain. “Twenty-seven.”
“Yes, but you didn’t let me finish. There’s so much more to him than just his fabulous outside; he has a wonderful inside too. He’s caring, generous, and he loves me Aunt Jane.”
“He told you he loved you?” Jane asked.
“Yes, and I am completely in love with him.”
“Trinity, I’m happy you are so happy, but you need to be careful. He has lived a life already where you are just beginning yours. I don’t want you to get your heart broken by this man.”
“Aunt Jane, he won’t break my heart.”
Ashton sat down on the foot of my bed, watching me pace as I absent-mindedly twirled a curl with my finger.
    “Well, what is his name?”
“His name is Lord Ashton Braeden Willmont Archer, and he is an Earl.”
    “Wait, he’s a what?”
    “An Earl.”
    “Like Earl Grey Tea?”
I giggled. “I’m not sure about Earl Grey Tea, Aunt Jane. Most everyone calls him Lord Archer.”
“You mean like in one of those English novels?”
“Yes, like in one of those English novels. He’s from England , and his father is a Duke. There is more, Aunt Jane.”
“I’m still trying to process what you are telling me. You are telling me you met a twenty- seven year old Earl from England , who you love and who you believe loves you, correct?”
    “Yes.”
“Well I’m unsure of what to actually say. I’m a bit speechless,” Jane confessed.
“I married him, Aunt Jane. I’m Lady Archer now.”
A gasping breath, a stone cold silence then five heartbeats later Jane spluttered out, “Did you just say you married him?”
    “Yes. I married him.”
“Trinity Lane Winslow, have you lost your mind!” Jane yelled.
“I’m Trinity Lane Archer, not Winslow. I married the man I love, so calm down, everything is going to be fine.”
“How can you tell me to calm down? Your mother is going to skin me alive when she hears this.”
“You promised you would not tell her.”
“Is this Lord Archer with you now?”
“Yes, we are staying in his chateau in France .”
“Put his ass on the phone. I want to speak with him.”
“Aunt Jane, you need to calm down,” I said. “I will not let you speak to him if you are going to be disrespectful to my husband.”
Ashton blinked then smiled at me.
“Husband,” Jane muttered, “I won’t be disrespectful. Put him on the phone.”
“My aunt would like to speak with you.”
Ashton reached out and took a hold of the phone. He placed his free hand to my cheek then kissed my lips softly.
“Do not worry,” he mouthed then smiled. He pressed something before he said, “Hello Jane.”
“Hello,” Jane said. “Should I call you Lord Archer or, what were the other names?”
I was surprised to hear my aunt. Ashton had her on a speaker function on his phone.
Ashton chuckled. “You may call me Ashton. Lord Archer is not necessary.”
“Listen, Ashton,” she said, her tone more than disapproving, “I don’t know what kind of a scam you have going there, but my niece is very special and dear to my heart so let me assure you if one hair on her head is harmed, and I do mean one single hair, I can promise you Count, Earl, Lord or King, I will have your English ass in a sling.”
Ashton let out a guffaw. “Jane,” he said with honey dripping from his tongue, “allow me to set your mind at ease. I assure you I am not involved with a scam as you so eloquently pontificated. I am, however, without reservation, in love with your niece. I would move the stars for her. I live for her smiles; they alone light up my heart, so I can guarantee I would never in my lifetime harm her. I would die before I allowed anyone to harm her. Trinity is the very life which causes my heart to beat.”
“I hope you are telling me the truth, Ashton.”
“I can declare to you, every word I speak is the truth.”
“But married? She is only nineteen.”
    “I apologize
