wasn’t at all used to. As Guido continued to bring all my bags up, I wondered where it would all go. I never realised I had so many things, especially since I’d been shopping with Lorena.
When Guido had brought the last of the boxes, I figured he would go back downstairs and leave me in the room alone to change in private. It seemed he proved my assumptions wrong when I noticed he wasn’t leaving. He was leaning back against the wall next to the door, his eyes following my every move. I managed to unpack the main items I would need and left the rest neatly stacked in a corner of the room. I tried to ignore Guido and his gaze, but it was extremely unnerving.
He was a good-looking guy. It seemed all the men who worked for Sebastiano were built from the same mould: all muscles and bulky frames. He didn’t scare me, but his scrutiny of everything I was doing and every move I was making was starting to piss me off. I needed to remove myself from under his gaze, so I escaped to the bathroom for a moment. I walked into the attached en-suite and just as I was about to close the door behind me, I felt resistance coming from the other side of the door.
“What the hell?” I said as I opened the door to find Guido right behind it, holding the door open. I glared at him. “Do you mind?”
“Yeah, I do mind. The Don told me to keep an eye on you and you are not to leave my sight!” he said adamantly. “If you close the door, then my eyes are not on you, are they?”
I quirked up a brow and he grinned at me. There was no way in hell I was going to pee while he watched me. Absolutely no fucking way! I didn’t even need to pee. I was only pretending because I desperately wanted to get away from him for a couple minutes. I felt trapped under his intense gaze. “Look,” I turned to him and continued, “I honestly don’t think Sebastiano would have meant it so literally. I’m quite capable of being left alone and able to roam the house without being stalked.” I stepped from the bathroom, crossing my arms over my chest, but he wasn’t budging. “I want you to call him, now!” I demanded.
He looked at me as if I had grown a second head, but he remained calm as he leaned back against the wall and crossed his own arms. “Are you crazy or something, lady? I can’t disturb him, especially not during one of his workouts.”
“Fine then, I will call him. Is his number in my phone?” I insisted as I grabbed my new phone from the bedside table where I had left it earlier.
He glared at me. “No, I didn’t manage to store Sebastiano’s number on there yet.”
I scrolled through the contacts to find he was, in fact, telling the truth. My phone only had Lorena, Guido and Riccardo’s numbers in the contact list. I returned his glare. “Get this through your thick head, I am not going to allow you to stand there and watch me pee. You either give me Sebastiano’s number or leave me to do my business on my own.”
Before he even had a chance to reply, my brother stormed into the room. “What the fuck is going on here?” he shouted. “Why are you shouting at Guido?”
“Paulie!” I threw my arms around my brother’s neck and breathed in his scent. It may have only been a day at the most since I saw him last, especially with his stay in hospital, but I had missed him something fierce. I was so happy to see Paulie. We normally spent most of our free time together, so not having seen him for a while had been like a gaping hole in my heart.
Paulie hugged me back, patting me awkwardly with his bandaged hand. “I missed you, too, Sierra. I wanted to come over and make sure you’re being treated okay. Is everything okay? No one’s hurt you in any way?” he asked, peering over at Guido.
I pulled back and saw a serious look on his face. We may have talked through this on the phone, but he needed to see it with his eyes and not just hear words. “Let me make a mad dash to the bathroom and then we can talk about it
