“May I have this dance?”

A large, rough tanned hand extended over her shoulder just as Lexi picked up her glass of champagne.  The fingers brushed against the skin on her bare shoulder and Lexi felt prickly energy course over her skin.  She turned her head and smelled the expensive cologne before looking up to see the strikingly handsome man the hand belonged to. Dante.
Lexi felt heat rise to her cheeks as she gazed in to his deep brown eyes.  Ever since he’d first caught h er eye, whenever he looked at her, his eyes were predatory.  He was confident and casual, but there was a heat in those eyes that made her whole body tremble.  It was almost as if he could reach inside of her soul and spark a fire that had died long ago.  Tonight, that look was there.  Knees trembling, heat pooling in her belly, Lexi tried to mask her desire by taking a deep breath and breaking the intense hold his eyes had on her.

“Hello, Lex.” His smile was warm and sexy.
“Call me Lexi.”  She preferred adding the “i” at the end of her nickname.  Other than Lacey saying it, when anyone else called her Lex she felt like the bald-headed villain in Superman and that was definitely not the image she wanted to portray.

Lexi’s heart skipped a beat as his deep voice washed over her.  She had been avoiding him the entire day, doing her best to focus on her best friend’s wedding.  Now, sitting at the table all alone, she left herself wide open for his approach.  Truth be told, she had hoped, yet feared he would come to her.

Clearing her throat, Lexi stood up and accepted the hand in front of her.  Dante’s large hand easily dwarfed hers and the warmth of his touch sent ripples of pleasure throughout her body.  Very few men ever caused such a reaction with her.  She’d enjoyed the pleasures of enough men to know what she wanted and how she wanted it, but too often, Lexi felt she had to do far too much work to enjoy it.

As Dante lead her to the dance floor, Lexi pulled back slightly on his hand, her whole body tensed.

“Um, Dante, I’m not much of a dancer.”
Dante turned to her and leaned over whispering in her ear, “Just follow my lead.”
Before pulling away , he nipped at her ear lobe and Lexi felt her knees wobble.
Dante pulled Lexi close and swayed with her to the slow music playing over the speakers.  She laid her head against his chest and breathed in the crisp cologne and listened to the steady beat of his heart.  Neither said a word as they moved slowly across the floor.  Relaxing in his arms, Lexi enjoyed their dance and before long, it was over.
Breaking apart as the dancers clapped , Lexi looked up in to Dante’s face.  His jet black hair was nicely combed back.  His face was tanned and smooth, with a strong jaw line and slightly wide nose.  Lexi brought her hand up to his face and traced his cheek with her finger, bring it down to his full, dark lips all the while staring in to his chocolate brown eyes.
Dante leaned closer in to her and kissed her forehead, lingering a moment longer than necessary.
“Thank you for the dance, tesoro.”  With that, Dante walked away.
Lexi stood on the edge of the dance floor, body needy and trembling after their contact.  She watched the direction he went in, but no longer could see him as the other guests crowded around the dance floor.  He was over six feet tall with broad shoulders, in the only other white tux at the wedding, yet he completely disappeared.  Damn, that was anticlimactic .
“Having a good time , Lex?” Lacey wrapped an arm around her best friend.
“It’s wonderful , Lacey.”  Lexi slung her arm around the bride’s waist.
The two stood in silence for a moment and watched the crowd laughing, drinking, dancing and enjoying themselves.
“I saw you dancing with Dante,” Lacey broke the silence.
“Yeah .” Lexi glanced down at her periwinkle satin shoes.
    “That’s it?  Just ‘yeah’?
