Summer Nights
going to go swimming or just
stare at the damn water all day?” Stella grumbled, pulling us all
back to reality.
“Let’s go, mi chocolate.” Ramon grabbed
Stella’s hand and led her towards the water, into the view of our
enemies.
I pressed my lips together and pulled
Summer into my arms. Her back against my front was heavenly,
sending every degree of heat to my groin. I held back as I directed
her towards the water, following Ramon’s lead.
    SUMMER
The water was a striking blue. The
waves washed across the sand and hit my toes as we headed straight
into them. The water’s warmth was surprisingly refreshing despite
the temperature.
I stopped when I felt Cruz stiffen
behind me, his biceps flexing around me, as if to draw me deeper
into his protection. I peered over my shoulder to find his face
pinched into a dangerous glare, his eyes focused down the beach. I
followed his angry glint to a group of men, who all began to sit
up, their attention fully on us. Their expressions all mirrored
Cruz’s in some way.
    “El conejo tienes una mujer
ahora ,” one of them commented loud enough
for us to hear. I understood mujer , which is woman; it felt like
they were talking about me. My chest tightened, a lump forming in
my throat at the realization.
    CRUZ
“Cruz?” Her worried voice broke the
concentration of my pissing contest with the men.
    “Que, mi
amor ?” I faced her, my heart breaking at
the sadness on her face. It was then that I realized what she must
have assumed. “They weren’t commenting on your figure. They were
announcing that I finally got a girl.” I left out the part where
they called me a pussy.
She looked worried as she stared out at
the water. Stella and Ramon had taken notice of our situation at
the shore. I knew Stella was seeing Summer’s point of view and
Ramon mine.
I kissed Summer’s neck, leaning into
her. “Let’s go swimming. I can’t wait to see that bathing suit
plastered to your body. I’m forewarning you though. If I see your
nipples poking through, I won’t hesitate to take you in the ocean,”
– I paused for effect. –“with everyone watching.” I nipped her
earlobe before leading her deeper into the water.
    Her breath hitched, her breasts
mindlessly lifting upward in need. Without touching her, I already
knew her pussy was wet. I loved that she reacted to me in every
way.
    “Todo bien
ahi ?” Ramon checked on the situation on the
beach.
I looked back, but the guys
were already focused on the tourists again. No doubt a truce had
been called for today, the mutual hope of getting laid by a
beautiful woman surely the cause. “ Si .” I nodded.
    SUMMER
Stella raised a brow in my direction.
“You okay?”
    I smiled, nodding.
Truth was, it didn’t matter what the
men said. They could have called me a two-ton whale, and I couldn’t
say that I’d care. It’d hurt a bit, but knowing that I was all the
woman Cruz wanted would have quickly erased the pain; however, it
didn’t wipe away the unease. Damn, tomorrow was going to be hard.
Cruz was the only man to ever make me feel this way, to breach my
walls so easily. I would miss him.
I turned in his arms, lacing my hands
around his neck. I looked up at him. The sun was high in the sky,
shining down on him, illuminating his copper skin. I nearly bit my
tongue when I realized I wanted to say those three little words to
him. It scared me to know that, if I said them, I would actually
mean them. My eyes watered, the words hanging thick in my throat,
as I fought them down. “I’m going to miss you.”
The look on his face confirmed his
words before he spoke. “I’ll miss you more.”
“Why don’t we miss each other tomorrow
and just enjoy today,” Stella butted in.
I broke into laughter. The smile that
broke across Cruz’s face was priceless. “Do you always speak your
mind?” He looked at my best friend, amusement danced in his brown
eyes.
“Always,” she replied, no hint of an
apology in her
