found Samuel to begin with.
“But Solomon, I don’t get it. If Seth was so connected to his guidance system, then why did he get hurt so badly?”
Sara, don’t let the drugstore crowd influence you in reaching negative conclusions. From broader perspective, things have worked out very well.
“But Solomon, couldn’t Seth have saved Samuel without getting hurt?”
Certainly, Sara. That is a possible thing. But you must not assume that something terribly wrong has happened here. Wonderful opportunities are sometimes masked by seeming difficulties. It is only when you understand that well-being truly does abound that you are able to discover the life-giving nuggets that are all around you.
“Well, okay, Solomon. You’re always right. It just seems to me that—”
Sara, do you remember when your furry friend knocked you off of your crossing log and into the river?
    “I’ll never forget that.”
And how do you think other people feel about that incident, Sara? Do you think they were happy that you were pushed into the river, and that you floated for miles downstream?
“No, Solomon. They think it was awful. They think I was stupid for being on the crossing log to begin with. They don’t think
I should be near the river at all.”
And what about you, Sara? Are you sorry you were pushed into the river?
Sara’s face lit up in a big smile of understanding. “No, Solomon. I’m not sorry I fell into the river.”
Why not? Why don’t you feel the same way that others do about your raging-river experience?
“Because when I got out of the river that day instead of being afraid of the river and what might have happened, I just felt
powerful. It was like, everything that everybody was always saying about the river to try to scare me turned out to be untrue.
I felt like I was safe, anyway, no matter what they all thought. Solomon, that’s when I knew that the river wasn’t a threat
to me. I think that was my first real taste of my own well-being. I wouldn’t take any of that back for anything, Solomon.
Not any of it.”
So, are you telling me that sometimes when you are looking at something from the outside, you might not really understand its true value?
Sara smiled. Solomon was so wise. He understood everything.
And that only the person who is living the experience can really know the full value of it, or the reason for it?
Sara, Seth’s experience, like yours, will provide so much value for him. Value that will continue to unfold for many years to come. Well-being always abounds, Sara, no matter how it looks at first, or to those on the outside.
Sara smiled. She felt wonderful. “Thank you, Solomon. Thank you so much!”

    Things Will Always Work Out
S ara could hardly wait to meet in the tree house again with Seth and Annette. She was brimming with her new understanding about
well-being, and she was eagerly anticipating Seth’s fast recovery. She could hardly wait to tell Seth about the cells in his
body and how they know exactly what to do, and that he would be back to his perfect rope swinging self in no time. Sara was
experiencing a fantastic new feeling of vitality and enthusiasm.
As she moved from class to class, she watched for Seth and Annette. She practiced, in her mind, the conversations they might
have. She felt so excited to tell them everything that she had come to understand, about how, sometimes, when things look
as if they have gone terribly wrong—that everything is really all right.
Sara saw Annette coming toward her and moved to the edge of the hallway to wait for her. Annette didn’t look happy.
“What’s wrong?” Sara blurted out, wishing immediately that she hadn’t started the conversation on such a negative note.
“Oh, Sara. I just saw Seth, and he says that his parents have forbidden him to go to the tree house. They don’t want him near
the river. Oh, Sara, what are we going to do?”
Sara stood there, stunned. She just couldn’t believe
