Dmitry was tired of Nikki turning him down every time he asked her to marry him, but tonight he’d devised a plan that he hoped wouldn’t get him hurt. Unfortunately that was a definite possibility if he wasn’t careful because although he was pretty sure that she was in love with him he also knew that she was fiercely independent.
She was not the kind of woman that welcomed ultimatums, so he was fairly certain that she was going to be ready to knock his head off tonight.
Dmitry waited in bed for her to finish her shower and join him, he prayed like hell that this would work because he wanted her to be his wife and the boys wanted her to be their mother. Even Olga and Yuri were rooting for him to marry Nikki so everyone was for their marriage except her.
Nikki slipped into bed beside Dmitry and smiled. “C héri, why does it seem that every time I go back to my room there’s less and less of my things there? You keep slowly moving my belongings to your room.”
“Well since you brought it up I was going to talk to you about that. There is no point in your keeping your things in the other room because you’re always here anyway. And I know you keep turning me down every time I propose to you but I’m hoping that tonight will be different.” Dmitry said waiting for her to inquire as to why tonight was going to be different.
“Alright and just why do you think that tonight will be any different from all the other times that you’ve asked me to marry you?” She asked with a feeling that she wasn’t going to like the answer.
Nikki knew Dmitry well enough to know that he was up to something because he would only accept the answer no for so long before he did something about.
Dmitry reached over to the night stand and picked up a folder then he handed it to her. Nikki opened the folder to take a look at the contents inside. There were still pictures from security footage on the day that she taken him hostage to show that his team was incompetent. The picture made it seem that she was a criminal or a crazy woman.
Nikki closed the folder before sighing in frustration she turned her irritated gaze to his. “And just what in the hell are planning to do with these you sneaky, conniving, little jerk?”
“Let’s see I was thinking about handing them over to the police but I’m sure that you could find a way around that. So I thought maybe sending them to one of the media outlets however if you agree to marry me I’ll throw them in that fireplace over there.” Dmitry said as he braced himself for her reaction which more than likely wasn’t going to be pretty.
Nikki narrowed her eyes at him as she threw the folder across the room. Dmitry jumped out of bed fearing that she was about to hit him or worse.
“Now siren I know you probably really want to strangle me at the moment but the boys and I really love you and we don’t want to lose you. So before you go on a rampage and snap my neck just remember that.” Dmitry said in a pleading tone.
Nikki shifted to her knees in the middle of the bed she beckoned for him to move closer, he swallowed hard as he slowly moved closer to the bed. She reached out and fisted her hands in his t-shirt pulling him closer still.
“Chéri, you had better be so glad that I love you and those boys because if I didn’t they’d already be hauling you off in an ambulance. I’ll marry you but only because I was planning to accept your proposal tonight anyway, that’s why I’d brought it up in the first place.” She said as a slow smile touched her lips.
“Damn siren, don’t scare me like that but you have no idea how happy that I am you decided to become my wife.” Dmitry said with relief in voice.
