me to my door, but didn’t come inside, sticking true to his word to give me time to digest it all.
“I’ll see you tomorrow,” he said and bent down to kiss me softly on the lips before walking slowly back to his car. Tarik looked out across the street for a moment, at the line of trees that led into a stretch of the surrounding forests, before he got into his truck and drove away.
I closed the front door and slid down to the ground, a massive sigh escaping my lips. I ran my fingers through my hair and tried to digest it all. What I saw—Tarik morphing into a wolf—it was real. He was a werewolf, and so was Roland. Not only that, but they headed a pack of werewolves…and I was mated to both Tarik and Roland. How the hell did that make any sense?
I couldn’t deny though, that they had quickly worked their way into my heart and I felt this sense of…ownership towards them. They were…mine. Tarik said it himself. I couldn’t imagine them being with anyone else and I didn’t want them to. I shouldn’t have freaked out so badly back there. Also I probably should have taken at least one of their phone numbers. I sighed and stood up. Well maybe it would be best I just slept on it and started fresh with Tarik and Roland tomorrow.
I wanted to call Jess to ask her if she was mated with a werewolf now too. She did mention that her guy had been a part of Tarik and Roland’s pack. I just didn’t know how I would possibly bring up the fact that I had sex with two gorgeous werewolves if it turned out she was dating a completely normal guy.
Sighing, I decided to take a shower instead and maybe make myself some dinner, as it was getting late already. As I walked around my house, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I was being watched. I knew I was alone, but it felt as if the windows had eyes. Maybe it was my just being paranoid. Well, that coupled with the fact that my entire worldview had expanded to include beings that were supposed to only exist in scary stories and movies.
    *****
I was just about to get dinner going when I heard a knock on the door. I went to open it and found two guys standing on the other side, just as tall and built as Tarik and Roland. That was where the resemblance ended though. They had menacing expressions and their stances were aggressive, as if they would pounce at any moment.
“Can I help you?” I asked. One had sandy blond hair and brown eyes, his features cold and angular; the other had a low buzz cut, his hair dark brown, and his eyes an unsettling dull blue color.
“Yes you can. Can you tell us where you got that scent of yours, it smells exactly like an Alpha and his Second,” the one with the buzz cut asked. His voice had a hard sarcastic edge to it that sent uneasy chills up my spine.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about, sorry,” I said. I made to close the door on them, but the blond one’s arm shot out and stopped me from doing that.
“We think you do. Hasn’t anyone ever told you it’s not good to lie?” the buzz cut asked. Fear gripped my heart at the cold expression on his face. These were werewolves from that enemy pack Roland had told me about earlier. Only somehow they knew I was connected to Tarik and Roland, and now they were after me.
“How about we go on a trip, yeah?” buzz cut asked. The blond one grabbed me roughly and held me tightly by my arm. Buzz cut shut the door to my house and held onto my other arm.
I was in shock and didn’t know how to react at first. Once we made it down my porch steps, I started to try and pull out of their holds, but their grips on me only tightened.
“It’s best you don’t fight us, or it won’t go well for you,” buzz cut whispered into my ear, his breath hot on my neck. I shivered in revulsion and fought against the bile that rose in my throat. My neighborhood was small and relatively quiet; if I yelled someone would know something was wrong and call for help.
“Let me go!” I screamed and I pulled
