they’d shared her body and theirs, there shouldn’t be anything they couldn’t say to one another.
“Oh, sweetheart.” Damian kissed her hand again. “I’d love to be inside your warmth. I just…can’t.”
    “Can’t? Why not?”
    “In case you get pregnant.”
She’d all but forgotten the possibility of pregnancy, probably because she’d been more concerned with their safety. The last couple of days at the compound, she hadn’t even bothered with the medscan to see if she was ovulating. In the back of her mind, she knew it wasn’t simply worry that caused the neglect. She wanted to have a baby with these men, a sign of their love for one another and a way to open up a new path in her life, one she couldn’t walk away from to stay with I.D.E.A. By ignoring contraception, she’d actually been making a choice. “I’ve been selfish.”
Jayce reached out to take her other hand. “Selfish? You? You don’t even know the meaning of the word.”
With a shake of her head, she tried to pull her hands back. Neither man would release her. “I wanted to get pregnant, but I never asked you if you wanted to be fathers. That was selfish.” Both men laughed, making her glare at them. “What’s so funny?”
“You honestly believe a man doesn’t think about being a father if he sleeps with a woman without protection?” Jayce asked. “Trust me, especially where I’m concerned, it’s the first thing I thought of. Well, second , after thinking how sweet it would be to be inside you.” He squeezed her hand. “I want you to have our baby, love.”
    “Why?”
“For the same reason I made the announcement of our engagement. Because I knew it would make you stay with me. If I told the crowd we were to be married, I knew you wouldn’t embarrass me by contradicting me, and if you got pregnant, you’d belong to me. I don’t want to lose you, Izzie. Ever. I love you.”
Tears were stinging the backs of her eyes, but she swallowed hard and turned to Damian. “You don’t want to have a baby with me?”
Damian dropped her hand to reach out and cup her cheek. “Oh, sweetheart…I love you. Of course I do! But if you get pregnant, it has to be Jayce’s baby. If anyone questioned that, I wanted no one to find out that your baby might not be genetically his.”
His logic was not only easy to understand, but it revealed just how deeply Damian loved Jayce. “You didn’t want him threatened by someone claiming the baby was yours and not an heir to the throne.”
He nodded. “It’s not that I don’t want you. It was never that.” His smile melted something inside her. “I’ll be in that pussy of yours one day, I promise you.”
Jayce turned his head to look at Damian. “It doesn’t matter to me whether you sire the child or I do. We would both be the fathers.”
“I know it doesn’t matter to you,” Damian replied. “And I love you for that. But it would matter to your people. Those who wanted to hurt you could use the child and his paternity to try to blackmail you or bring you down. I can’t allow that, and the safest way is to be sure I don’t create a child with Izzie.”
“I would protect you both, and I would protect our child!” Jayce insisted.
“But who would protect you? ” Damian shot back before he heaved a sigh. “For now, let’s just be careful not to give anyone anything to use against you. Who knows what the future will bring?” His brown eyes locked with hers. “I’d love to have a child with you. Someday.”
If she hadn’t already decided to love them both, this conversation would have won her heart. She threaded her arms around Damian’s neck and pulled him closer, pressing her breasts against his firm chest. Kissing him, she caressed his tongue with hers, loving how he wrapped his arms around her waist.
As if not to be excluded, Jayce got busy with his hands, wiggling them between her and Damian and covering a breast with one while sliding the other between their
