gone. Diandra pushed the worries for Lizbeth’s safety from her mind- she
couldn’t bear to think about the danger she was putting herself in. She knew in
her heart that Lizzie was doing it for her and RaeLynn so Jonah’s name didn’t smear
theirs. It made her feel sad and just a bit guilty.
    She shook it
off and turned back to Eamon. “Well, now what do we do?”
    He smiled
broadly. “Hopefully we’ll have dinner and I can explain the ins and outs of
vampire life to you. The way you’re doing today it shouldn’t take too long.” He
gallantly held out his arm to lead Diandra back inside. She laughed and put her
arm on his, and together they walked up the stairs and back through the sliding
glass door.

Chapter Seventeen

    Diandra led
Eamon back to the parlor and gestured for him to have a seat. He slouched
lazily in the pale pink armchair once more, his large frame taking up most of
the room in the overstuffed chair, dwarfing the piece and making it appear
smaller than it actually was.
    “You mentioned
dinner,” Diandra said with a smile. “Do we want people food or liquid
nourishment?”
    Eamon laughed.
“Personally I want a little bit of both! I was thinking a tuna fish sandwich
and a big tall glass of blood, room temp please. I can’t stand it cold, and it
loses its flavor if you microwave it.”
    “You’re in
luck- I figured out the flavor issue for myself. I keep it in a chest in a room
just off the kitchen. It’s in a safe spot and locked up tight where my
housekeeper, Margaret, won’t come across it and panic. I’ll go make up some
tuna fish sandwiches and I’ll be back out momentarily.” Diandra headed off
towards the kitchen, shaking her head at the idea of tuna fish and blood.
Sounded like a Hell of a meal.
    She opened the
cans of tuna and mixed them up according to her favorite recipe- she found that
adding a splash of lemon and a few drops of ketchup made a huge difference in
the taste. While she puttered about in the kitchen she gave a lot of thought to
the man in the other room. Eamon was handsome, she’d give him that. He had
sleek, short ivory hair that matched the color of his coat while in his feline
form. His eyes were a deep sapphire blue, and they radiated intelligence. He
had a slim waist, a muscular upper body and strong, thick legs. He was tall,
probably 6’3” or so. She was amazed such a large man could turn into such a
delicate cat.
    I don’t
know , Eamon said in her head. I think I make a sexy cat, too . His
laughter echoed as she tried to figure out how to get him out of her head. The
laughter abruptly was quieted in her head as he uttered a small yelp of pain
from the other room. Apparently the mental slap she had given him actually
worked. She chuckled to herself. Nice to know!
    She carried a
tray laden with two plates of tuna fish sandwiches and potato chips as well as
two tall glasses of room temperature blood back into the parlor. Eamon was
slumped in the chair where she left him, rubbing his temples. He shot her a
dirty look that made her laugh again.
    “Don’t
eavesdrop and you won’t get slapped,” Diandra said primly as she set the tray
down on the solid oak coffee table between them. She sat down on the loveseat,
curling her legs up on the cushion next to her. She took a deep sip of blood
and sighed. How delicious and refreshing. Her fangs protruded a little and she
licked the blood from the tips.
    Eamon reached
for his tuna fish sandwich and chuckled. “All right, so maybe I deserved it.
But watch yourself or I won’t teach you how to keep the fangs from coming out
when blood is nearby.” He shook a teasing finger at her, grinned, and bit into
his sandwich. His face instantly lit up. “Okay, I’ll tell you anything you want
as long as you promise to keep making this for me. This is so good!” As Diandra
watched in amusement, he scarfed the sandwich down in less than a minute.
Good-naturedly she handed him her sandwich as well and watched him
