outside the jewelry store,
she was mine. I hadn’t made a move on her yet, but I was still
trying to get rid of Nakami and her father before I started
anything with someone else. But Blaze had never left my mind.
My brother rubbed his hand and mouthed, “Game On,”
but this time I wasn’t trying to compete. Kimani and I always
played this game of who could get on first, but Blaze wasn’t a game
to me. I had plans to make her mine as soon as Nakami was out of
the way. There was something about Blaze that intrigued me and made
me want to be with her, and this was only the second time we had
spoken. Some might say that I move too fast, but I just know what I
want when I see it. Why waste time?
Blaze turned her attention back to us. “Sorry about
that. To answer your question, Kimani, I’m a business owner,
celebrity hair stylist, and barber. I throw this annual event for
entertainment professionals to have a fun place to network and make
connections.”
“That’s dope.” I was in awe of her.
“I’m glad you think so. But I must admit I had
ulterior motives for stepping to you all tonight.”
“If it involves being able to be in your company for
the rest of the night, I’m wit it.” Kimani licked his lips.
“Well, actually every year we do some kind of fun
activity during the event to raise money for a charity. This year,
we’re doing an auction.”
“Oh, you need a donation? I got you.” I reached into
my jeans and pulled out the wad in my pocket.
“No, it’s actually more than that,” she giggled.
“It’s a date auction. We put some of our entertainment
professionals up on stage, rattle off a list of their attributes,
and let our wealthy attendees bid on a date with them. I just lost
two of my male auctionees, and you all are guaranteed to bring in
some big bucks. So what do you say?”
“For you baby, you got it.” I smirked at Kimani’s
smooth ass after he made that remark. He was delusional if he
thought that he really had a chance. Blaze was feeling a nigga, and
Kimani’s too pretty ass wasn’t going to cure her need for a thug in
her life. I could tell that she needed a nigga to handle her
pretty, thick ass, and I knew for sure that she thought I was the
man for the job. But I wasn’t going to burst my bro’s bubble just
yet.
“Perfect. You can follow me and I’ll have my
assistant ask you a few questions and tell you what you need to
do.” She started walking in the direction of the stage and we
followed her, watching her ass sway the entire time.

Nakami
March 2015

Grey had managed to piss me all the way off! The
audacity of this mothafucka to think that he could just ignore me!
I had something for his ass though. Fuck getting off the crazy
train, because apparently niggas just don’t know how to act.
Currently I was parked in front of the W Hotel where the GPS
tracker on Grey’s phone alerted me he was. Crazy thing was I had an
event that I had planned that was taking place in the same hotel,
so I was curious to see what this nigga was up to. Now that he had
proposed, there was no way in hell I was letting another bitch come
claim my spot. All I know is if I find out this nigga had got a
room to sex down one of his jump offs, I had my .32 in my purse
ready to set some shit off.
The GPS only told me that the phone was located in
the W, but not where inside, so I was going to have to do a little
sleuthing. Dressed simply in a pair of Saint Laurent biker jeans, a
v-neck boyfriend tee, a nude colored blazer, and matching So Kate
red bottoms, I made my way through the lobby and towards the front
desk. Before I could get there, I heard my name called.
“Nakami! You made it!” I whipped around and saw my
client, Blaze McGowan. She skidded over to me in some bomb lace-up
gladiator sandals and wrapped me in a hug.
“Hey, B. How do you like how everything turned
out?”
“It’s perfect. I never worry when you’re in charge.
You’re the shit at what you do, and I
