his elbow as he lays his head against his fist.
“And besides…” He smirks. “After what we did, I didn’t think you were a good girl, anyway…”
She blushes, hiding her mouth behind her hand as she giggles into it embarrassed.
“Do you feel better though.” He asks, watching her lay down beside him to rest her head on the fresh pillow case.
“I still wish we could call the police.” She whispers to him. “I just hate that those guys could be back there doing anything and we’re not even trying to stop them.”
“I know…” He says, chewing on his bottom lip. “But the police hate us, Lily. One look at me and… you gotta understand they would do anything to take us down. I can’t just invite them into my business.”
“Yeah, I get it.” She whispers back to him, nodding her head. “I mean, this…” She starts, hesitating to find the right words. “I don’t know exactly what goes on here, but I know all about doing what you need to do to survive.”
“Yeah…” He says, reaching over to her and rubbing the palm of his hand up and down her waist.
“Besides, you saved me.” She says, blushing as she feels his hand trail lower and lower. “If there was a chance you got in trouble… I wouldn’t want that…”
“I don’t think they’re after you, anyway…” Jason says. “We’re gone, so I think they’ll be gone, too. You have nothing to worry about.”
“I hope so…” She says, rolling onto her back and looking up at the water-stained ceiling.
“I know…” Jason whispers, sitting up and getting off the bed before jogging across the room and out the bedroom door.
Lily sits up, crossing her legs under her as she hears him run to the living room before his footsteps trample back down the hall.
“Here.” He says as he walks back through the bedroom door, holding up a nearly empty bottle of vodka in one hand and two little shot glasses pinched together in the other. “A little bit of stress relief to help you sleep.”
“Oh, man.” She chuckles, following him with her eyes as he walks back towards the bed before sitting down beside her and resting his knee on the mattress. “I sure could use something like that, now that you mention it.”
“I figured you could.” He smirks as he carefully pours her a shot.
She takes the little glass from him as she watches him pour himself a shot, too.
“Well, cheers!” He says, throwing his head back and gulping down his shot.
Lily does the same, tossing her head back and letting the harsh liquid fall down the back of her throat.
She shakes her head, gasping for breath as she scrunches up her face from the tartness.
“Good stuff, right?” Jason asks, taking her shot glass from her and stacking it in his before placing them, along with the tall bottle of vodka, on the night table beside her.
“Yeah, I guess…” She giggles, watching him get up from the bed.
He walks over to the other side before sitting down and pulling his shirt over his head, his rippling back muscles contracting as he tosses it onto the floor.
She watches, her eyes hooding over as he stands up, his hands reaching down the front of his waist to unbuckle his belt buckle, then his top button, before pulling down the zipper and pushing down his jeans.
He sits back down, kicking them off before turning his head to glance back at her.
“You can get comfortable if you want…” He says, clearing his throat as he glances over to the open door. “Oh, here, let me get that.”
Lily watches as he gets back up and walks back over towards the door before pushing it closed. He lifts his hand up to flick the light switch off, darkening the room slightly, the street lamps and the moon light not giving in to total darkness, though.
“I’m comfortable already…” She replies, her head starting to buzz a little bit.
