none too happy about it either.”

“Colt? Who’s Colt?” Tina ginned at Marshall’s confusion.

“Part of the deal to deliver the cars was Goremykin had to provide new identities. You’re best friend is now Bradley Colt Lanier, but he goes by Colt.”

“Funny. He doesn’t look like a Colt.”

“He didn’t think so either, but I… persuaded him. I think the name is sexy.”

    “Using your womanly wiles?”

Tina grinned again at Marshall’s teasing. “You might say that. Let me give you his number.”

“Got it,” Marshall said as he wrote it down to put into his phone later. “So Jack is now… what did you say his first name was?”

    “Bradley. Brad.”

“Oh, yeah, right. So it’s Bradley Colt Lanier… and your name is?”

    “Jac.”

    “No, your name.”

Tina giggled. “It’s Jac. Jacqueline Marie Wendell.”

“So Jack isn’t Jack, but you are? That’s not confusing at all!”

    “See! You’ve got it!”

    “Okay... Jac… what’s your plan?

Well, Jack and I are going to Savannah. We loaded the cars on a truck and we are headed to Phoenix. We’re stopping for the night as soon as he is done filling the truck and we find a place to stop. But it’s Phoenix, Dallas, Birmingham, Atlanta, Savannah. The satnav said it’s a forty hour drive, but I don’t think we will push that hard. We have three weeks to get there.”

    “Are you coming through Albuquerque?”

“No. We’re taking the southern route, through Los Cruces and El Paso. It’s a little longer, but I think you know why we are going that way.”

Marshall chuckled. “I have a pretty good idea. Is there anything we can do to help?”

“I don’t think so. But thanks for asking. I think now Jack and I just need to deliver the cars, then figure out our next move. But we will stay in touch. Now that I’m no longer Tina and he’s no longer Jack, it should be easier. Maybe we could detour up to Roswell and you and Nic could join us for dinner or something?”

“We would like that. See you guys one last time before you disappear.”

    “I’ll talk to Jack.”

    “Do that.”

“We’ll stay in touch. And Marshall… thanks for everything. You’ve been a good friend to Jack. And to me.”

“Just take care of him, Tina. He’s a good guy… but don’t tell him I said that.”

“Yes he is, and I will do my best.”

“I know you will. Let me know about Roswell, okay?”

“Why don’t you plan on meeting us Saturday evening? That will give us two days to get there, which should make for a nice easy drive. Especially in this thing. It’s like a house on wheels.”

    “See you Saturday.”

“Count on it. If Jack doesn’t want to go, I will kick his ass out of the truck and drive there myself.”

“I’ll see you there,” Marshall chuckled.

    ***

“The only thing this thing needs is a washer and dryer and you could live here,” Tina said as Jack closed the curtain to the sleeping berth.

“I like the bed. Small enough that you can’t get away.”

“What makes you think I would want to?” There was just enough room to stand at the edge of the bed and she took advantage of the space to melt into Jack’s arms. Tonight she was going to check off another item on her bucket list… fucking her brains out in a semi.

“So... you want another taste of the Colt, eh?” he teased.

“Oh yes. I can start out with a taste, if you want. But after that…”

    “Yes?”

“After that, use your imagination.” She began to unbutton his shirt as she stared into his eyes. “Anything you want.”

Jack gazed at her for a moment, then slowly brought his lips to hers. She responded by tipping her head back and rising to meet him. Their lovemaking had changed over the past couple of weeks, moving from hard, fast, and energetic to slower and more loving. But tonight he
