Hot Date With The Boss (BBW Contemporary Billionaire Romance)
him. “Lucky number three?” she asked shaking her head and Simon nodded.
“Yeah. There have been two other secretaries before you,” he said.
“Why?” she didn’t understand what all this was about.
“Now, there is one thing you have to understand, Taylor,” the man told her as he looked into her eyes intently. “Mr. Cohen can be a little hard to please.”
“Hard to please?” she repeated in a low tone.
“Let’s just say that you will be the third secretary he’s had this year,” Simon said.
“Third? July just began,” she said.
“Tell me something I don’t know,” Simon said, rolling his eyes. “But like I said, Mr. Cohen is hard to please.”
“So he fired the other two?” she asked in a low tone. Simon looked at her as he led her out of the office.
“Don’t be silly. No one was fired. They were just reassigned,” he said. They were now standing outside the elevator, waiting for its doors to open. “It’s easier that way. Less dramatic and definitely a smart financial move,” he added as they stepped into the elevator.
“What does reassigning them have to do with finances?” Taylor asked.
“Well, the company doesn’t get sued since it is simply just moving someone to a new department,” he explained. “Wrongful termination does not apply.” He smiled at her.
Taylor took a long deep breath as the elevator doors opened. She looked at Simon and smiled.
“Well, I need this job, so there is no way I am leaving unless I am damn well and ready to do so,” she said, before she walked out of the elevator. Simon put his hand on the elevator door keeping it from closing and smiled proudly.
“You go, girl!” she heard him call out as she walked towards her new desk. The thirty-seventh floor was very much unlike the second floor where Simon had been situated. The view was better, the furniture was classier, and hell, even the air smelled a little fresher. She put her purse down on her new desk and looked around the place.
“I could get used to this,” she said to no one in particular, as she scanned the larger than life office. She had only been a personal secretary to one other person and his office space was not nearly as big as this. This … this was a whole new world. She then slowly made her way into Zachary’s office. She could not help but feel like she was standing in Harvey Specter’s office. Everything from the view of the beautiful city below and the half dozen autographed baseballs on his desk. There were personalized mugs lining one wall that had Zachary pictured with various celebrities.
“I could definitely get used to this,” she said again as she looked around.
“Get used to what?” she heard a male voice behind her making her gasp silently. She turned around and came face-to-face with her new boss, Zachary Cohen. The Zachary Cohen.
‘Mr. Cohen, sir,” she started, as she wondered if walking out of the office at that moment was a good idea. “I literally just walked in a couple of minutes ago.”
Zachary walked towards her and put his iPad on his desk.
“There is no problem with getting yourself acquainted with the new premises,” he said and she nodded. He turned around and looked at her. “Do you mind if I get you started with a few tasks?”
“I am here for anything and everything you need, Mr. Cohen,” she said with a smile.
“Good. I will email you a list of all my contacts and then I need you to make a call to my Dubai offices and set up a conference call for 11:00 am. Afterwards, I would like you to call the London office and tell them I will be sending an envoy tomorrow. I cannot make the meeting.” He walked around and took a seat. “And I like my coffee strong and black,” he added as he looked at her.
“Right away,” she said before she walked out of his office.
She could feel him looking at her as she walked away. And even though she hated to admit it, she liked it. But at the back of her mind, she could not help but
