your eyes.”
I sighed, but I saw the resolve in his eyes. It reminded me of Nick and how he looked when he stared at me when he wanted something. His mind could never be broken when he was determined to obtain something. I lay back on the bed and closed my eyes, waiting for him to make a move. The bed depressed from his weight. He parted my legs and something trailed up the inside of my thigh. It was light and soft. I surmised it was one of his feathers. I opened my eyes to investigate, but Tannin covered them with one of his hands. His lips touched the side of my neck and immediately my body was infused with light. A small pleasure earthquake shook my body, so I clenched my fists together. I tried to gather my thoughts, but they were scattered until the orgasm released me.
    “What was that?” I moaned.
“Just a little taste of what is to come. Now keep your eyes closed.” Tannin removed his hand from my eyes and continued his torture of the feather. He ran the sharp end of it over my skin as if writing. When he was done writing on a section of my flesh, the space grew cold. Each time he finished an expanse, my body was electrified. He wrote from the tip of my toes to my forehead. Tannin then turned me over and wrote more on my back, smoothing out the writing with the soft part of the feather. As he ran over my shoulder blades, I jumped and then groaned from the pleasure of it all. My wings stirred underneath my skin. When I focused on my Guardian side, it seemed she was barely there, but she was there. We were more connected than we had ever been.
“Open your eyes now,” Tannin whispered. He slipped his hand underneath me and helped me to sit up. All of my muscles were relaxed. I could still feel the hum of the power hovering all over me from where he had written on my body.
I opened my eyes. What I saw on my skin was a spider webbing of intricate silver writing. My flesh glittered. I traced my fingers over some of the writing and felt the letters were almost burned into my skin.
    “What is this?”
“It’s the first step in the mating process with an angel. It’s to mark the intended’s body with the language of Heaven. By marking you, it makes you aware to the ones above. The words will eventually fade and rearrange into a permanent marking that only the goddess will know. It also opens all the erogenous zones.”
“I can barely move without feeling the writing pressing down on me. Don’t tell me that you have to wait until the ink dries before you can take advantage of the work that you’ve done.”
He shook his head. “Not at all.” He traced some of the writing with his fingers and immediately the gesture sent a bolt of pleasure through me. It felt like a million feathers had wiped across my skin and it was beyond measure. I cried out and was already wet for him. Tannin continued to trace the letters. Each time he did, he mouthed the words to himself. They flared silver across my body. When he breathed on them, it sent another intense quiver of fire along my nerves. The more he did this, the more I was drowning in a bliss-filled lake where I was going to die because the true orgasm seemed out of reach.
Tannin’s lips claimed mine. I struggled to regain my senses and wrapped my arms around his neck. I clung to him while I pressed against his body. Having skin on skin was almost worse and more painful than only having him hovering just above me because when my flesh touched his, I saw his body flash silver as well. The writing swirled along his flesh and writhed. I tried to watch it, but it made me dizzy. His fingers trailed over my shoulder blades. I jumped and cried out when he did that.
“Are you ready for the next step?”
“It depends on what it is. Does it get any worse than this?” I sighed.
“There will be some pain for your first time. Let the pain wash away and into me.”
“What are you going to do?”
“Coax your wings out. It’s better to do this during a pleasurable
