only handle one at a time.”
Lexi’s head snapped around while cuddling two of the adorable dogs. “Where do you live?”
He winked at Gail to take the puppies and held his hand out to Lexi. “Let’s go, baby doll, we have one more stop to make.”

“That was so much fun, can we come and do that again, Daddy?” Lexi asked with a giggle as she and Raul walked out of the shelter and back to the car.
“I always enjoy coming down here to visit with the pups. I also love to hear you call me Daddy ,” he admitted with a smile.
Lexi could hardly contain her excitement as she entered the car. “Can I help you adopt a puppy when you’re ready?”
Motioning toward the seatbelt, Raul waited patiently for her to buckle up before starting the ignition. “Of course you can, sugar,” he said, pulling out of the parking lot.
    “So where are going now?”
“I was thinking that you’d like to see where I live… it’s a bit unconventional, but I love it.”
“Why haven’t you taken me to your place before?”
“Because you live so close to the hospital, I guess we’ve been spending quite a bit of time in your apartment complex. But it’s given me a chance to know Katie better, and I love being invited to Ronnie and Rich’s weekly poker game. Maybe we should have Katie and Ronnie over for cocktails at my place one night, since she’s had us over for dinner more than once.” Making a quick right turn, he headed toward the ocean. “Over there,” he said, pointing to the sign that displayed Lighthouse Point Marina.
    “You live in the marina?”
“After the divorce, I bought a houseboat and docked it here. Now you’ll see why I can’t take more than one puppy at a time.” Raul pulled into the lot and parked in a spot that overlooked several boats.
“Which one is yours?” Lexi asked as she craned her neck, looking over all the crafts.
“Come on, and I’ll show you.” Exiting the car, Raul reached for Lexi’s hand. “Be careful, cookie. There are some cracks in the pavement, and I don’t want you to fall,” he directed, moving her in closer toward him. As the two of them gingerly walked past several boats that were quite impressive in size, Lexi’s eyes grew wide in anticipation. When they reached the end of the dock, Raul stopped and crossed his arms. “That’s it, The Sea Doctor . Well, what do you think?”
Lexi’s mouth opened, but not a sound emerged from her throat.
“It’s a Fairline 52 Targa. I got it at an auction a few years ago. Come on, give me your hand.” Lexi reached out as Raul stepped across the water, pulling her onto his boat. “It’s not really all that big inside, but it has everything I need.”
After looking around at the boat’s amenities, she paused. “Jesus, this isn’t a houseboat—it’s a yacht.”
“Watch your head when we go down the steps,” he warned, leading her inside. After a quick tour of the small kitchen, dining area, guest room, and bathroom, he led her back to the master bedroom. “Does my precious girl like it?”
“It’s so beautiful, but maybe a bit wobbly,” Lexi answered, her hand grasping a railing.
“Why don’t I steer you onto the bed?” he asked, helping her onto the mattress. “It’ll give you a little more stability and security to be off your feet.”
She moved her face to the side and gazed up at him. “I have a confession to make.”
He bent over and whispered in her ear, “The rectal exam was embarrassing, but having me watch excited you a little bit, didn’t it?”
    “How did you know?”
“You weren’t the only one aroused, mi querida . Are you ready for me to do a full examination of your sexy bottom?”
    “Yes, Dr. Morales,” she purred.
“Good,” he said. “I need to get a few things from the bathroom, so while I’m gone, roll over on your tummy and pull your dress up like a good girl, please.”
Lexi instantly complied, tumbling over onto her belly before bunching the fabric
