calmly. I feigned that I was
talking to Mr. Avery, my eyes wide with shock: “She said what ? Oh god,” I paused
dramatically, looking her in the eyes with an innocent stare, “it must be…no,
it couldn’t be…Dina is just such a
sweet girl. Mr. James, do you think
she is trying to get me fired because she didn’t get the job…?” I smiled wickedly.
Her brows pulled together in irritation
and I watched calmly as her eyes raged with fiery hatred.
“You’re a god damned liar.” She breathed.
“Prove it bitch.”
Dina flew past me and down the
hall, her hand over her mouth as if she were shocked and horrified. My lips turned up into a satisfied
grin. Sure it was bad, but I was
starting to enjoy the way bad felt. Mr. Avery turned around in his office and his eyes met mine briefly and
he crooked his head to the side and returned my grin. I bit my lip innocently and went back to
my work as diligently as ever.

The telephone rang and I lazily
rolled across the couch and lifted the receiver to my ear.
“Hey Lace, I need a favor.”
It was my best friend Kate, and I
knew exactly what her idea of a favor entailed. She was hot as a fire-roasted jalapeno,
