sort of like seeing a stray male dog humping a female one and getting his penis stuck in her. You know you should look away, but you just stare all the same.”
“You’re full of it. Give me the real reason.”
I sighed. “I don’t know why. And I did look away.”
    “Eventually.” He chuckled to himself.
I stopped. “Jude’s right. You have to pick the role you want in people’s lives. You did this big declaration on how you wanted to be my friend, and now it sounds like you’re trying to hook up with me.”
“Oh, I get a role with you now? I’ve been trying to be in your life for years, and you avoid me like I’m some old, degenerate nutcase.”
“Well, you’re not old, but the jury is out on you being a degenerate nutcase.”
“You’re not funny.” He stepped closer to me. “So, you’re saying that getting a blow job in front of you was unusual?”
“You know it is or you wouldn’t be out here talking to me right now.” I crossed my arms over my chest. “And you were looking at me while you were getting it.”
“Because you were watching me. I’m only a man, after all. Vicky’s lips were wrapped tight around my cock. I’d already heard you moaning with Jude then you brought your sweet little innocent ass in the car and stared right at me like you wanted to join the fun.”
    I edged away. “I didn’t.”
He pressed his lips into a straight line.
“Don’t look at me like that. I didn’t. You’re my dad’s friend.” I snapped my fingers next to him like I was trying to wake him up. “Remember? That would be seriously twisted. And Jude would go bananas.”
    “Would he?”
I didn’t really know. Jude and his father had a strange relationship, one with few limits and definitions. I assumed he wouldn’t have liked me sleeping with his dad due to the way he’d reacted about Kaden hitting my behind. But, Jude relished being my protector. He could’ve just been trying to save me from one of his dad’s advances.
“I have no idea how Jude would feel about us messing around.” I pushed a seashell away with my toe. “Not that I would ever need to find that out.”
“Well, maybe he would.” Kaden shrugged. “He thinks you’re more innocent than you actually are.”
“Oh, really? More innocent than I actually am? You really have me all defined, don’t you? Since I’m such a slut.” I stormed off. My hair blew and rose in the wind. My Oscar the Grouch T-shirt waved against my skin.
“No. You’re not a slut, but you’re not a nun either.”
“I never claimed to be, Uncle Kaden.” I spat the last two words at him and glanced over my shoulder. The car was far away and appeared small from where we were walking. Vicky had climbed out and was studying us as we argued.
“You’re no longer allowed to call me Uncle.”
“Is that due to the freaky blow job?”
“That and your moaning, and maybe other things.” His gaze traveled down my body. “Like your strutting around me half-naked.”
“That dress wasn’t for you, so it doesn’t count.”
“Doesn’t matter. You’ve been sauntering in front of me with that ripe body, just waiting to be…”
I peered at him. “You might as well finish. You’ve already hit the record for boundary pushing today.”
“You’re not innocent of anything either, Rainbow.” He caught my arm and spun me around. “Your best bet this summer is to stay away from Jude and me. You’re playing around with fire, and the only person that’s going to be burned is you.”
“I’ve known Jude all of my life. He won’t hurt me. And you obviously must be high and drunk. It’s one thing to finish off a blow job behind me, but it’s an entirely sicker thing to openly state that you want to hook up with me.”
“Hook up with you?” He chuckled. “Rainbow? I’d spread you wide open and consume your soul. You’d have nothing left to give to another man.”
Curiosity coursed through my veins. I battled with not getting excited. It
