dibs
his engorged belly like any pregnant woman would and chuckled, backing down.
“You have a table. Why don’t you get back to it?” I added, tilting my head to where he sat.
He backed away from us and nodded. It wasn’t until Sam’s delicate fingers pried my fingers open that I realized my hands were fisted. Her green eyes stared up at me.
“I’m sorry,” she mouthed, her emerald eyes filled with regret.
When I sat, I placed her hand on my thigh, not ready yet to occupy my hands with any distraction.
“It’s ok. Not your fault. Where were we?” I tipped my bottle to the group, and everyone awkwardly toasted.
Cody leaned over Kat to get to Sam. “That was a good one, Sam. I like you!”
“Please, Cody. Don’t give her any fuel. She can destroy you with her words. She’s the wittiest bitch I know,” Juls added.
“Who said playing truth or dare wasn’t fun?” Kat laughed, clinking her glass with Cody’s drink.
“I’ll take a dare,” the waitress said. When I turned, her pierced navel was at my nose. The hits just kept on coming.
“Do we all want another drink?” I asked, leaning away from the exotic beauty. Most everyone said yes. “We’ll take another round.”
“And shots of sex on the beach!” Juls added.
“You want sex on the beach?” the waitress asked me specifically. Her English was broken, but she did pretty well. Sam’s nails were like a cat’s claws as they tightened on my thigh. There was no stopping me from laughing out loud.
“I will take the shot just like everyone else,” I answered, not looking at the girl, but I knew she started to walk away.
    “Excuse me,” Sam said.
    Fuck…
“Can you tell me how to say hoochie mama in Spanish?” she asked with a straight face.
Juls cackled, and I had my hand ready to stop the waitress if she came at Sam. Jesus, this girl kept me on my feet.
I’m not sure of the girl’s response, but I watched Blake and Cody…and by the look on their faces—she left the table in a huff.
“So, I was thinking,” I said to Sam. “What do you think about kissing me for the rest of the night?”
She grinned and leaned into me.
“You’re saying that so I will keep my mouth shut, aren’t you?”
    “Yes. Unmistakably, yes.”
Her forehead rested on my shoulder. “I’m sorry. I’ll be good,” she spoke so softly.
“Oh trust me, I like you naughty,” I rumbled as I popped wood. “You’re just a handful, my pretty.”
“Good thing you have two hands, huh?” she grinned.
“Truth or dare,” Cody asked Kat, and both Sam and I looked at them.
“Dare?” Kat answered like it was a question, and Cody put his arm around her but in a friendly way…I hoped.
“I dare you to go up on that little stage and dance to the next song.”
Kat’s eyes darted to the girls…an unspoken message made its way telepathically between them.
    “Fine,” Kat agreed.
Once the current song ended and the next one started, all three of the girls, shook their asses all the way to the stage.
“Wait!” Cody shouted. “That’s bullshit. It was just supposed to be Kat!”
As difficult as it was to take my eyes off Sam, in her sundress, swaying and swinging to the music, I kept an eye on the douchebag from earlier. He and his buddies watched them as closely as we did. Thank God the song came to an end and the three of them shagged their asses right back to the table.
The odd feeling infiltrating my mind and body was foreign to me. I was used to being turned on by women, but I’d never wanted one to stay by my side before. I fought to keep it at bay.
After a few more drinks and a couple extra shots, I figured it was time to ditch this bar. Too much more to drink, and I wasn’t sure I could adequately protect Sam from doughboy, who continued to keep an eye on all of us.
“So I was thinking we could take this back to the ship and hit the pool?”
That went over exceptionally well…everyone agreed. After we tabbed out, our feet hit the sand.
