standing there watching meâIâd do a Jay Crawford on Darius so fast.
âD, let it go,â K-9 said. âSheâs not hearing you. You see where this is going.â K-9 opened the door, leaned half his body into the hallway. âNurse! We need a nurse!â
âPunk ass ballers.â If K-9 knew what was best for him, heâd stay out of my warm-up with Darius and out of my lineup. I was just getting started. I could emasculate Darius and castrate K-9 at the same time.
Several nurses rushed into the room.
I didnât give a fuck about them. âWeâll see how you feel when the shoe is on the other foot,â I told Darius.
âMiss, youâre going to have to leave the hospital,â one of the nurses told me. âOr Iâm going to have to call the police.â
âBitch, do what the fuck you gotta do.â I looked at Darius squaring his shoulders. âIf you keep fucking with me, I will kill you and her,â I said, pointing at Fancy.
Another nurse said, âOh, my gosh. Call the doctor. Sheâs moving. Your wife is moving.â
Darius rushed to Fancyâs bedside. Guess that gave him a reason to keep standing tall. His day was coming.
I stared that bitch ass nurse Anita down, then told her, âI hadnât planned on staying.â I handed Darius the envelope containing my custody papers, bypassed K-9, and left the building.
That bitch twitching was just the distraction I needed. I hurried to the lobby, picked up DJ from Jada, and kept it moving. By the time Darius called his trifling ass mother Iâd be on the plane with DJ headed back to D.C.
CHAPTER 24
Darius
S he moved. My wife moved.
I wasnât sure if I should thank Ashlee or curse her out. Ashlee could make a great situation bad or a bad situation worse without trying. Damn that girl was never happy. Never satisfied. Wasnât my fault she was passive-aggressive. She started out doing whatever it took to keep me happy. Then when Iâd stopped making her happy, sheâd done all she could to make my life a living hell. I know my mom wasnât bold enough to let Ashlee watch DJ for more than two days without consulting me first.
Nurse Anita said, âEveryone out, including you, Mr. Jones. Your wifeâs pressure is up. Out, Mr. Jones, leave now,â she said, hissing between her teeth. âYour wife is fighting to recover and youâre in here acting inhumane. I pray you havenât set her back. Leave, now.â
Dr. Duke rushed into the room. K-9 grabbed my arm while holding on to the camera. We stood in the hallway. âLetâs chill here for a minute. Give you and the staff time to calm down and Ashlee time to get out of your way.â
âI messed up, huh?â
âD, females always trying to one-up on us. You good.â
I posted on Facebook. Gotta go put up some shots before I lose it. Baby mama drama. Just sayinâ.
Knowing Ashlee, if she was telling the truth about watching DJ, I might not see my son again. I sensed something bad was about to go down. I called my mom.
Mom answered all cheerful. âHey, baby. Howâs Fancy?â
âMa, whereâs DJ?â
âAshlee just left with him.â
âJust left with him? Whereâs she taking him? Whereâs she staying?â
âI donât know where sheâs staying. DJ wants his mom to take him to Disneyland,â Mom said all nonchalant.
âShe just left with my fucking son and you have no idea where sheâs staying. Where are you?â
âDarius, I need help and you canât help me. Itâs not my fault that DJ isnât used to staying with people he doesnât know. I tried letting Bambi watch him for a few hours yesterday and that didnât go too well. Ashlee will drop him off later. Darius, itâs okay.â
âDonât fucking âDarius itâs okayâ me, Ma. Stop pawning off my son. I havenât even met
