Crossroads
easily,” he says with a sexy smirk.  He raises his arms and folds them behind his head.  It takes all my strength not to jump back on top of him then, looking so relaxed and appetising in my bed.  But I turn on my heels instead.  “Em?”
“Yes?”  I turn back hoping he will ask me to do just that.   God, what is wrong with me?  I should have had my fill by now!   His hungry-eat-me-up eyes make their way up over my body to my face, sending shivers through me.  The smug look on his face tells me he knows exactly what he’s doing by looking at me in that way too.
“Got any juice?” h e asks huskily.
“Sure,” I reply, blinking rapidly.  That was not what I was expecting him to say.  I smile at him and shake my head as I turn to leave the room.
In the kitchen I put some bread in the toaster and pour two large glasses of apple juice.  Taking a huge gulp from one of them I can’t help the smile that forms on my lips as my thoughts turn to everything that has happened this morning… and what might happen next.  Things are different, I fe el so connected to him.  Everything is more intimate now.  He said he cared about me, but the way he’s been looking at me almost makes me think – The toast pops up breaking me from my thoughts.

Nick

I have a full body stretch while I listen to her moving about in the kitchen.  My mouth curves into a smile and I groan with the thought of how adorable she looked just now, wearing only a t-shirt and knickers, with concern on her face when she thought I was going to leave.  I could think of nothing better than hanging out with Em all day in this apartment.  What we have between us is magic.  Magic?   That does not sound right, I sound like a girl.  All I know is I need more of that , of her.
I reach for my phone to see the time.  It’s just after one, no wonder I’m hungry.  Maybe, instead of toast, I should take Em out for lunch.  That’s what normal couples do right?  And that’s what we are now, isn’t it?  As much as I would love to spend the day with her couped up in this bed, I know I should take her out or something.
Lunch!  Shit!   I’m supposed to be home for lunch!  The whole family will be there, I forgot all about it!  I jump from the bed and start to get dressed.  I notice Em come back in the room and I apologise to her, when I get a text from my sister.
Maria:  Did you forget what today was?  Dad’s gonna be pissed if you don’t get your fucking arse over here, like pronto.
I’m sure Dad would be pissed if he knew his precious little girl swore like a trooper too.  And he will be p issy at me no matter what I do!

Emma

“I hope Vegemite is okay,” I say when I re-enter my bedroom, carrying a tray of toast and juice.  I’m stunned to find Nick standing by the bed buttoning his jeans.  I watch him grab his t-shirt from the floor.
“ Shit.  Sorry Em, but I gotta go,” he says but doesn’t look at me.  He quickly picks up his phone off the bedside drawers as a text message comes through.  Scrolling through the message I watch as a look of anger morphs on his face.  “Sorry, I forgot I have to be somewhere.”
“Oh.”  Is all I can manage.
“Um… I’ll call y ou,” he mumbles, putting on his t-shirt.  He walks past me and out of the bedroom.  He doesn’t even look at me.  What the hell is going on?
“Nick?”  He turns back to me with an apologetic look on his face , which quickly vanishes.  “Are you okay?”  He doesn’t answer, just stares at me blankly.  It’s like he isn’t even seeing me.  I want to ask him who the text message is from.  Where was that cheeky, eat-me-up look from just a few minutes ago?  Was the text from a girl?  Who is he supposed to meet up with?  Did I mean nothing to him as soon as he got a better offer?  But what comes out is, “Did I do something wrong?”

“Of course not!” I practically yell in her face, my hands tightening
