heart.
“Aaliyah, I’m sorry. Please forgive me,” I pleaded sitting down on her bed. I had lost Supreme I didn’t want to lose my daughter too.
“I can’t stay here. I get out of jail and all I’ve been dealing with is drama. My grandfather is in a coma that it doesn’t look like he’s coming out of and my dad hasn’t lived in this house not one day since I’ve been back home. Then Chantal and Justina are still not in jail and I have to run into her with Amir.”
    “You saw Justina?”
“Yes, last night when I was out to dinner. That’s what I came to your room to tell you. But I don’t want to talk about them right now. I’m just dealing with so much and catching you in bed with
    Lorenzo was it for me.”
“Aaliyah, I promise if you stay that will never happen again. Lorenzo will never be allowed back in this house. I don’t want you to leave.”
“It’s too late. I don’t want to be here but I love you and I’m sorry for what I said to you. I’m in a bad place right now and I need time to myself.”
    “Where will you go?”
“I don’t know yet, but I’ll call you. I have to go.”
“Aaliyah,” I called out when she was midway down the hallway. At first she kept walking but then she stopped and turned towards me but remained silent. “I love you too.”
The tears trickled down my face but I couldn’t blame anybody for the fucked up situation I had gotten myself into but me. I stayed in Aaliyah’s room for a few more minutes staring at the pink bedspread she loved so much and all her favorite stuffed animals from when she was a little girl that she kept on a bookshelf. She was still my baby and now she was gone.
When I got back to my bedroom, Lorenzo was sitting on the chaise dressed in everything besides the shirt of his I was wearing. “I didn’t want to come out and further upset Aaliyah. I felt it was best I stay in here until you told me it was time to leave,” Lorenzo explained. I thought he would be a little agitated after the harsh words Aaliyah spit at him but he was surprisingly calm.
    “Aaliyah left.”
    “She’ll be back.”
“I hope so but I’ve never seen her this upset before. I really messed up.”
“It’s my fault. I should’ve never showed up here. You told me to stay away but I didn’t listen. I came anyway and I feel terrible. With all that Aaliyah has been through these last few months she didn’t need this,” Lorenzo said, putting his head down. He seemed to be taking it hard and I wasn’t expecting that.
“Aaliyah is my daughter and I’ve failed her. I don’t know exactly when it started but it did and I have to find a way to fix it and make it right.”
“I agree you do but also give her some space. She seems to have a lot of bottled up anger inside and it’s coming to a head. But who can blame her, she spent time in jail for a crime she didn’t commit and that’s just for starters. It was wrong of me not to take Aaliyah’s feelings into consideration. But I missed you and wanted to be with you. In the process I used poor judgment. It won’t happen again.”
“I wanted you here,” I said stroking the side of Lorenzo’s face. “I don’t regret being with you but it can’t happen in this house again. My children think of this as their father’s home and I have to respect that.”
“You’re right. I recently bought a place and you’re always welcomed there.” I kissed Lorenzo and even after the bullshit I went through with Aaliyah I was ready to slip out of his shirt and have him inside of me again but I refused to give into my lust and temptation.
“Thank you and I will. I do want to see if we can make this work . . . you know a relationship.”
“I know what you mean and I want the same thing but I won’t rush you. Your focus right now has to be making sure that your children are good. I’ll be here, I’m not going anywhere.” Lorenzo unbuttoned his shirt that I was wearing, took it off and then put it on. I hated
