empty room. His younger brother Marcus was there as was
Tristan with another man. All her anger, fear and frustration dissipated when
she saw how worried Tristan looked. Katrina ran to him and threw herself into
his arms. Damn everything, she had to feel those muscular arms about her. He
embraced her tightly and laid passionate kisses on her cheeks and jawline. He
cupped her face and stepped back. Such love and tenderness radiated in his
eyes, she wanted to weep.
    “You are untouched? He
did not force you to do anything against your will?” he questioned, looking
deep into her eyes.
    “No. Nothing. I'm
fine. Oh thank God, you came.”
    Regardless of who was
in the room, he didn’t seem to care for he leaned down and gave her such a deep,
hot, devastating kiss she was soon moaning.
    A deep voice broke
through her haze of passion. “Son? Can you continue this later, perhaps? Let us
tend to the business at hand and be gone from here.”
    Tristan released her.
“Katrina, my father, Deegan Black.”
    She turned her gaze
to an astounding looking man. Only a couple of inches shorter than Tristan, he
stood about 6’2”. He had the same lean, muscular body as Tristan. His coloring
was paler, his hair very dark, but he had the same silver-gray eyes. Tristan
must have received his hair color and darker skin tone from his mother. Lord,
Deegan Black was gorgeous. His father reached for her hand and kissed it, giving
her such a devastating smile she could feel her knees turn to jelly. Like
father, like son. They both oozed sex. They could pass for brothers or maybe
cousins, not father and son. So this was his Vampire father. She was a little
dazed when he released her hand and stepped away.
    “Devlin Steele, it
has been many years. Let us be done with this. I have plans later tonight. Who
is the poor unfortunate wolf you wish turned?”
    “My brother, Marcus.
He has graciously volunteered.” Devlin pushed him toward Deegan.
    Marcus stood
perfectly still in front of Deegan.
    “Anything and
everything for the Pack,” he said with firm conviction.
    “A bold and honorable
statement indeed.   Bravely spoken. Let us
begin,” Deegan said.
    Tristan stood behind
her, and his arm clasped her waist. She was plastered against his muscular body
and she could feel him responding to her nearness. God, the man. Her knees
could not get any weaker. The room vibrated with masculinity, virility and
testosterone. It was overwhelming. Tristan's presence was the most potent to
her. She had so many questions and many conflicting emotions. She was caught in
a swirl of heady sensations.
    Deegan took a step
toward Marcus. He walked around the young man as a lion would stalk his prey.
    "And you are
absolutely sure you wish to do this?"
    Katrina turned her
head to look up at Tristan, who looked tense.
"Maybe I shouldn't be here," she
said.
    She didn't care for
the mood in the room and had no idea what was going to happen.
    Tristan pulled her
closer and leaned down to whisper in her ear. His warm, tropical breeze breath
fanned her cheeks enticingly.
    "Dad is going to
turn Steele's brother at his request. I want you to see what it will be like. I
want you to see this part of the life I lead."
    Her eyebrows knotted.
Why, for Christ's sake? Turn? Into what—a Vampire? How was that possible?
Wasn't this Marcus a shape-shifter wolf? Oh God, were they going to turn her
too?
    Tristan must have
felt her body stiffen with tension. He laid light, hot kisses on her neck.
    "Easy. This is
not done to anyone unless they wish it."
    She was being sucked
into this world, whether she wanted to be or not, and she wasn't sure how she
felt about that. Or anything at this point.

Chapter Nine

    The young man
standing before him was quite beautiful for a Thrope. They certainly took their
breeding seriously. Deegan glanced at Devlin Steele. It was a surprise he would
taint their blood with the unknown elements of the Vampire life-state. Was he
