That’s what made her a great actor.
I gave her that look of please let me pay.
Nevertheless, she got her way and paid while I smiled a thank you and tried to continue on my quest of somehow applying for something. I really liked this place! It seemed like it would be the perfect job!
“My name’s Chelsea and I would like a job,” I kept on. “So maybe I could speak to the manager?”
“I am the manager and owner,” he informed, his tone flat. He looked annoyed. “Okay, Chelsea, where are you from? You sound like you’re from…far away.”
    “South Carolina,” I proudly replied.
“Oh boy…” he muttered. “Where is that?”
“Far…away,” I just said, in my shy voice, my southern accent was very rich and I was embarrassed about it around everyone here. “You want specifics?” I asked. I pointed to the wall behind me. “Back there.” I smiled.
Sky reached for her coffee and gave me the look that she’ll see me when I’m finished with my interrogation. She headed over to the fixing table and kept a curious eye one me.
“Okay,” he wryly replied. “Well my name’s Harry.”
“You don’t look hairy,” I played. He gave me a look that was as far from amusement as I was from home.
“This place is very busy,” he let me know. “I mean, you will be on your feet for hours straight. There is no time to take a rest. It’s foot traffic from the minute we open until after we close – what I mean by that, love, is that we’ll have people knocking on the door wanting in. They don’t care if our back hurts and we need an early nightcap. They don’t care if we’re bleeding, on fire, what have you, okay?”
“See…” he started to explain, placing his dirty fingernails on the counter. His fingernails, though dirty I’m guessing from coffee, were very neatly trimmed, and his hair was perfect. It was thick at the top and shaved on the sides. I was getting the picture that he was a very “in control person”.  “Customers are the most important thing when it comes to Angel – without them, we don’t exist, so if some dingleberry is banging on the door five minutes after five, you open that door and smile fresh-faced like its nine am, you got me?”
    “Yes…sir.”
“Anyone can gain experience when it comes to what we do here – that is not the point. The point is being nice, being eager to serve, yeah? I can’t teach you that, yeah?”
    “I understand, sir.”
“I like the sir,” he said, before glancing over at the door for a minute. He seemed suddenly detached, and I wondered if this interview was over.
“Okay.” He eventually brought his eyes back to me. “Let’s do some role play, yeah?”
“Uh…okay. Role play?” I dragged the word out a bit in my southern drawl. I couldn’t help but blush. Although an actor and familiar with the term, I couldn’t shake the heavy sexual connotation with the word. Then, I blushed. Sky’s pretty racy and far more experienced than I with her older boyfriend. She told me all kinds of stories. Stories that made my conservative ways blush.
“I’m a customer,” he said, cheerful and innocent.
                  “A customer of what?”
He looked very impatient all of the sudden. “At…this…café.”
                  “Oh.” I smiled.
“You are the employee – at this café – where I am the customer,” he made sure I was keeping up. “What is the first thing you say to me?” Harry was good looking, but when he smiled he sort of looked like the evil Grinch from that Christmas story.
                  “Okay…”
He was looking at me impatiently already. “Okay…? That’s not what you say.”
“Hi,” I corrected myself. “How are you?” I smiled. He saw the
