nipples hardened right in front of his fucking eyes, and she
dropped her arms to her sides. Had he really been trying to mask the fact he
wanted her? No . When he looked into
her face it wasn’t to see irritation that he obviously couldn’t get his desires
under control. Instead he saw a reflection of his own arousal. “I just wanted
to know who my mate was, and our first interaction didn’t exactly go as I would
have hoped. I dug into your past, found out everything about you. I learned who your friends and family were, where you went to
school, what you do for a living. I found out everything, Melissa.”
“I really am not comfortable with
someone looking me up. It’s a bit stalkerish , if you
know what I mean?” Maybe he should have felt bad for what he did, and he
supposed he did, kind of, but this was who he was. He had told her the truth
about himself, and that was a lot more than he did for others. “If you want to
know something about me just ask, okay?”
“Yeah,” he said and then ran his hand
over his jaw. “I just didn’t want to start this off with lies.” She looked down
and smoothed her hand over the linen napkin.
“Although I don’t really like the fact
that you dug into my past,” she looked up at him, “and I don’t think I want to
know how deeply you dug, thank you for at least being honest with me.” She
reached for the bottle of wine and filled her glass up, gestured the bottle to
him, and then filled his up as well when he nodded for more. “Just
don’t do it again.” She smiled, but she was being completely honest. “You
want to take this to the living room? It’s a lot more comfortable than these
chairs.” She stood, and he followed. He grabbed the wine bottle and followed
her out, and damn him for not being able to not stare
at her ass. But shit, the way that thing swayed and jiggled under the jersey
material of her dress did wicked things to him. She sat on the couch, but there
was no way in hell Declan was going to put any distance between them. The heat
between them was slowly climbing, and although he had no delusions that he
would get to sample Melissa tonight, he did have hopes that they could move in
that direction. To say it was hard not to touch her, to take what he wanted,
and just claim his mate, was the understatement of the fucking century. She
turned to face him, and he did the same. “We can watch TV, or talk more if you
like.”
“Or you can move closer, let me touch
you, smell you, and let things progress the way they are going to anyway.” Her
eyes widened, and Declan realized what he had just thought hadn’t been private
at all. He had just fucking said that shit out loud.

Chapter Eight

    Melissa shouldn’t have been surprised
that Declan had said those words, but she was. What was even more shocking was
he hadn’t even meant to. The grizzly’s arousal was like nothing she had ever
experienced before, and it was all for her. When she had planned on seducing
him, taking this to the next level and seeing how it would go, all of that had
been in theory. Melissa had never been one to grow nervous or apprehensive on
taking something she wanted, and never when it concerned a male, but when she
had opened her front door and seen Declan standing there, she had felt like
this was her first time with a male all over again. They only sat a few inches
from each other, and their knees almost brushed together. What she wanted was
something that didn’t require that part of their bodies, but she didn’t move. The
lights were dim in the living room, and it was a very intimate setting,
especially when the only thing that could be heard was the sound of their
combined breathing. With every second that passed her pulse quickened further,
her pussy became damper, and her clit throbbed. Her panties were past the point
of being soaked, and the slinky material of her dress—although casual—hugged
her body like a second skin. She was a bigger girl, with curves
