the night goes on.”
“It usually does. Tell me, Aryn, what are your goals, with the club?” Master Orik asks me.
“I’d like to just meet and get to know people, maybe get to know another Top who would be willing to mentor me,” I tell him, which is the truth. I know Dex would be willing, but he’s being mentored by Derek and I’d hate to have him learning and teaching at the same time.
“I think we can work on that.” Master Orik smiles. “I hope you don’t mind, but I gave Master Orion,” he smiles and clarifies, “Derek, your packet.”
I shake my head. “No, that’s fine. Is there anything I should know about for tonight?” I ask, honestly not wanting to overstep any boundaries.
Derek shakes his head. “No, I think you’ve got the basics down.”
Almost as if on cue, the four women from earlier enter the great room from the kitchen. They are followed by Cotah and Raine. Raine is dressed in the corset she bought earlier and a very short leather miniskirt. The question I’d had earlier about what she’d wear under it is answered quickly, nothing. I’m pretty sure my eyes bug out of my head briefly when I see her. But I rein myself in and focus more on Cotah. Until I get an unobstructed view and I realize she’s not dressed any different than Raine, though she is slightly covered, but barely. The girl is all curves, but she looks sexy as fuck.
The girls are all carrying trays of food and they start making their way around the room, delivering food to the guests and I’m surprised that Dex allows this with Raine. I realize quickly that no one is actually watching them. They take their food and the girls move along. One of the girls from the kitchen comes to me and I take an egg roll type thing from her and she moves off, avoiding eye contact with me.
    That’s disappointing.

Eventually everyone kind of wanders off and Dex comes to stand with me. “Why did he introduce you as Sir?” I ask him quietly.
He smiles and snorts a little. “Because in most settings, the title of Master is earned. Usually once you’ve gone through all of the steps and proven your status, then they will acknowledge you as such.”
“Do I want to know how many steps there are?” I ask, pretty sure it’s not something that can be done in a night.
“I’m not really sure how many, but the first one starts with taking on a submissive role and that, my friend, is something I cannot do.”
I shiver, rejection at that idea washes through me. “Me either.”
“That’s not to say that I cannot be addressed as such in other clubs, but The Box is where we started and it wasn’t until later that Raine started calling me Master. So while that dynamic works for us outside of the club, I don’t see the necessity of it when it comes to inside the club.”
“But Cotah introduced you to Mistress Sara as Master?”
He smiles. “She did and she always will. Her Master has instructed her to do so.”
Well, that makes perfect sense. Right? I hold my breath versus the huff of frustration that I’m feeling with all this information. It’s impossible to remember everything and eventually, I will screw something up, that I have no doubt.
I’d never thought there would be so much more to this lifestyle than what I’d read on the internet, but I guess like Dex said, every dynamic, every relationship, and I guess every club is different and it is something I’ll need to get used to.

SEVENTEEN

THE PARTY QUICKLY switches into full swing. Literally.
The subs are directed by their Tops to one apparatus or another. Large duffle bags, suitcases, and various other bags are carried to tables that are set up near the various crosses, benches and tables. Out of those bags comes a wide variety of pervertables, like floggers, cuffs, chains, whips, and stick like things that I’ve never seen before and quickly decide that whatever they are has to be painful as hell.
