relationship, with that perfect someone.
No, she wasn’t going to make Phil wait those ten dates. Not at all. He was already everything she had been looking for in a man for years.
He made her laugh, he made her cry—and boy had she shed a lot of tears for him. Behind closed doors. Though, he’d seen her cry occasionally, more than anyone else in her life, she realized.
There were no masks or acts with him. She was herself. She didn’t have to be perfect, didn’t have to be cool, calm and sophisticated Sophia. He had seen all sides of her along the way, and he still wanted to have a relationship with her.
As close as all the Harpers were, she knew Phil was privy to her upbringing and background. It had come up plenty in the past, so there were no secrets there.
She wasn’t even worrying about sexual compatibility. Though she dated a lot, she had only slept with a fraction of those men. Only a few in the scheme of things. Mainly because none of them—until Phil—had ever brought on any of that longing or desire she’d heard about from others. Or read about in books. Even if they did make it to the ten-date rule.
The sex was good, but not great. Very rarely was she even able to have an orgasm, not without a lot of help in the end.
Only Phil had been able to make her lose every inhibition she had. Every bit of control until she couldn’t think at all. It was all reaction with him. What she felt that night, what he made her do, and the things she did to him.
Never had she been so turned on that she was groping and reaching and trying to get a man’s clothes off like she had that night. They had fallen onto the bed in the hotel room half dressed, pushing and pulling clothing out of the way.
Thinking back now, she was amazed they managed to undress completely before he grabbed one of the condoms they had both tossed on the bedside table.
Everything about him and that night was intense. So much so, her orgasm came out of nowhere. Wound her up and spun her around, consuming every part of her.
The next morning when he woke her up and had his way with her again, she couldn’t believe her body reacted the way it did. So different than the night before. Slower this time, calmer, and controlled, but it didn’t matter. He got her there, with no extra help at all.
Yes, Phil Harper was everything she could have imagined in a man and everything she had dreamed about. Not just what was on the outside. There was no denying he was sexy as all hell.
To most women, Alec probably was the hotter of the twins. He was built a bit bigger, was rougher around the edges, and had more humor to his personality.
In her eyes, though, it was always Phil. Tall and lean, just the right amount of muscle, just the right amount of humor, and not quite so rough around the edges. Perfect in every way but one.
No, that wasn’t true. She wasn’t positive about the last thing yet, the one thing he asked her—what she wanted out of a relationship. Actually, it was what she wanted out of a man.
It was too early to tell if he could love all of her. There was time yet for that. But until then, she was happier than she had been in longer than she could remember.
So Phil didn’t have to worry about waiting for those ten dates.

Counting

Phil woke up with a start. It wasn’t the first time he woke up sweating and reaching for Sophia when she wasn’t there. But tonight there was more to it. More that he remembered.
Odd, he couldn’t believe he never thought of this before. It never even occurred to him. But something always nagged in the back of his mind about that second time they’d had sex when they discovered the condom had leaked.
His memory right now was stronger, brighter and clearer. The sense of something wrong mixed in again. The condom hadn’t broken, but it was almost completely drained. Otherwise he wouldn’t have known it even leaked.
He wasn’t sure if it was the conversation they had when he brought her home
