in my heart that my wife is up there. I need to know that I am right.” John turned to look at the house again. “I don’t know what it is about him that scares you but I will do anything to find her and if that means taking him on, I’ll do it.”
As he turned to look at Sparks again, the last visual that he saw was Sparks swinging a gun towards his head. He felt a burst of pain as the gun made contact with him. His vision steadily went black as he fell.

Chapter 6: A Loss of Will

The blackness was Amber’s new home as she was blind not only to the world around her, but to herself. Her soul was ripped apart and her spirit was stomped on until it was flat. The chains held her still; the bondage of not only her body, but her heart and mind.
The room that was once as cold as the man who captured her, was now a warm sweat box, a perfect representation of the hell she was in. Every pore of her body poured with sweat. She was suffocating from the heat.
Her hell got worse as she heard the footsteps coming down the stairs once again. His steps came into the room and stood still. She could feel his eyes on her. She could hear the sound of something being placed on the floor; it sounded like a tray.
He got closer and she could feel his hands picking at the blindfold. Within seconds, the blindfold was taken off. He then unfastened the cuffs from around Amber’s wrists, an exhausted and drained Amber fell straight to the floor when the second cuff was unlocked. She howled from the pain in her hurt wrist when she hit the floor.
“I brought you food,” the man finally said. Amber looked and saw a sandwich sitting on a plate. Since she had vomited up her previous sandwich, she was very hungry. She was about to move when he put his foot in front of her. “I want you to crawl to the plate.”
She then looked up into the clown masked face with a very pitiful look. How was she supposed to crawl on her bad wrist? She knew that she had no choice though; he wasn’t asking her, he was demanding her, and there was no way out of it.
“I want you on your hands and knees, and stick your butt in the air,” he demanded. With no other alternative, she pulled herself up to her knees. As she put her hand on the floor, she tried to avoid putting weight on her bad wrist. Even the slightest bit of weight caused her pain. “Start crawling,” he said after she had gotten into position.
Amber wanted to stall but knew that she couldn’t. She started very slowly with her good wrist. It only took a second before she had to move with her bad wrist. As she put weight on the wrist, she could hear and feel the bone break even further. The pain was excruciating; she wanted to scream.
As she kept going, she whimpered and was about to scream until he said, “Silently. I don’t want to hear a peep from you.” She held her breath and kept going. She fought with all of her strength to stay silent. The plate was only six feet away but her now demolished wrist made it seem like it was thirty.
When she finally reached the plate, she collapsed back to the ground, breathing hard and filled with pain. “Good girl,” the man said with a tiny laugh. “You can eat now.” The man stepped out, only to come back in with a chair which he set down next to Amber and sat down in.
Amber carefully reached for the sandwich. She grabbed it with her good hand and wrist while her other lay lifeless. Much like the first sandwich, she ate this one quickly, not truly tasting it.
After she finished eating, she heard a cell phone go off in the man’s pocket. He took it out to look at the screen. “Shit,” he whispered
