Chapter 10
Monday morning came fast, and by noon, the call came in that the jury had reached a verdict. Court was set for 2:00pm. Lorraine declined going to the courthouse with Brianna and Charrise out of fear that Herman would be there. Instead, Selena accompanied her back to her house so she could grab a few things she needed. When they pulled up to the house, Herman’s car was in the driveway. Lorraine was a little reluctant at first to go into the house, but Selena made her feel a lot more comfortable when she reached under the driver seat and pulled a large caliber handgun out, and placed it on her lap.
“Don’t worry about anything. Just get what you need and we’re out of here.” Selena said, cocking a bullet into the chamber.
“Herman!” Lorraine called out once they entered the house. “Herman!” she yelled again, walking towards the stairs.
Herman wasn’t answering, but Selena wasn’t taking any chances. She followed Lorraine up the steps. Selena was given strict instructions from Brianna to shoot and kill Herman at any sign of aggression, and she wasn’t going to hesitate for a second, especially if he jumped out of one of those rooms like he was crazy.
“I don’t think he is here,” Lorraine said, walking into her bedroom. “He would have made himself noticed by now.”
“Alright Mrs. Lorraine, the quicker you get ya things, the quicker we can get out of here.” Selena said, looking down the hallway for any suspicious movement.
Lorraine went right to work, grabbing a trash bag from out her closet and filling it up with all the items she needed. Within ten minutes, she and Selena were loaded and heading out the door.

Jonathan, A.J., and Kasy sat at the table in Jonathan’s dining room with a large mountain of money in front of them. This was the first time that any of the men had seen the proceeds from the lick. From the way that nobody really wanted to touch the blood money, it was obvious that this was a bittersweet moment.
“Yo, let’s count dis shit up.” Jonathan said, reaching over and grabbing a stack of money from the pile. “Kev’s cut goes to his family. I’ll take it over there later on.” he said.
Both Kasy and A.J. nodded their heads in agreement. It was only right that his money be given to his family, and Jonathan wasn’t going to see it no other way. He had really stepped up and become the heart of this crew. Even though Kasy was older and more experienced, he respected Jonathan’s leadership skills, and what he had put together.
It took over four and a half hours for them to count up the 5, 10, 20, and 100 dollar bills. There wasn’t a doubt in anybody’s mind that this was dope money. At the end, it came out to 1.2 million, broken down four ways evenly. Everybody came out with a nice 300K. The leftover change was put to the side to pay for Kevin’s funeral.

Brianna pulled up to the courthouse, not knowing what was going to happen. From the evidence that was presented to the jury, one would think that a not guilty verdict was the right thing to do. However, when the majority of the jury was older, white, suburban people, anything was liable to happen.
“Everything is gonna be alright,” Charrise looked over and told Brianna after she finished parking.
Brianna had something else on her mind other than the trial. She was sitting there debating whether to tell Charrise that Herman was the one who set her up to be kidnapped. She didn’t know how her sister was going to react to it, but at the same time, it was killing Brianna not to confide in her.
“I need to talk to you about something.” Brianna said, turning to face Charrise.
“Sure, what’s going on, Bri, and why the long face?” Charrise asked.
Brianna took in a deep breath. “Please don’t be mad at me…” she said, shaking her head. “I’m not sure how to tell you this, other than to just say it.
