fine.  It was an easy delivery, if there is such a thing.  You can take the girls in to see them for a few minutes.  Sarah is probably going to be going to sleep pretty soon.”

Suzy came out and hugged her brother.  “It’s good, Clint.  Your son is beautiful.”  Turning to the two girls, “You are now big sisters.  You will need to help your mother take care of him,” she said.

When they walked into the bedroom, Sarah gave them a tired smile, as she pulled the blanket back so they could see the baby’s head.  “Isn’t he beautiful?” she asked.

To her husband, she said, “We did it.  We have a son.  The Thomas family is so blessed, we need to give thanks.”

They bowed their heads as Clint said, “Dear Heavenly Father, we thank you for giving us this fine, healthy boy and for taking care of Sarah during this time.  We thank you for all of the blessings you have bestowed upon us.  Amen”

    Sarah echoed, “Amen.”

Epilogue
With two girls and a boy, the Thomas family would have no more children.

Cassie would continue to be as effervescent in her young womanhood, much the same as she was as a little girl.  She would graduate from the Galveston Medical College.  She would go on to a brilliant career in medicine and become a head of department in one of the prestigious medical schools in Texas.

Rebecca would graduate from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in law.  Her degree with honors and her stunning beauty led her to become a highly successful attorney and was later appointed to be a judge in the US District Court of Northern Texas.

Jonathon received his degree in civil engineering at Texas A&M University.  After oil was discovered on the family farm in 1901, he established one of the early oil companies in Texas, selling the crude product to the Texas Fuel Company.  He later joined the board of directors of Texaco.  Jonathon established a museum in Marshall.  Among the artifacts in the museum is a small jar of crude oil from the first well on the Thomas property.  Also in the museum is the battered board, with the remnants of three flour sacks nailed to it.  It has an identifying label naming it “Mama’s Cotton Duster”.

Clint passed away in 1921 and was buried in the Thomas family plot in Marshall.  His beloved Sarah lived ten years after his death and was laid to rest beside him.

The Widow Finds Love is her latest book to be published by Amazon.  She says, “ I enjoyed writing this book more than any of my others.  Much of the research came from materials and information I found in my pursuit of my family genealogy.  My Great-Great-Great Grandmother was married to a soldier in the Army of the Confederacy.  Just as in the book, he was one of the brothers in the same family to be killed.  The staggering facts about York County battle losses is true.  One in five adult men in the county made the ultimate sacrifice.  My family still lives in Rock Hill, SC, just sixteen miles from York, then Yorkville.  My GGG Grandmother left South Carolina in 1888 and migrated to Utah.

Susan continues to monitor all of the reviews and comments, and responds where appropriate.  She responds to all emails, as well.  She says “I revise my writing process and style accordingly.  This is a learning process for me and I love every bit of it.”

The names of all her books are on the pages following this one.

She says, “My thanks to you readers.  I appreciate your taking the time to read them.  As an avid reader myself, I will read several books during the time I am writing.  Our kids love to read as does my husband.  He takes his iPad with him everywhere and reads during waits for the doctor.

Thanks again.  Now I can begin research on my next effort.  If
