get you drunk so that I can have my wicked way with you again tonight,” he said low enough so that only she could hear.
Her eyes moved up to his.  He wasn’t smiling which told her he was completely serious about his intentions.  She shivered…with anticipation and dread.  “Turk, you really shouldn’t…”
She was going to argue that he wasn’t really wanting her but his mouth covered hers, kissing her and silencing whatever protests she was going to make.
When he finally lifted his head, his dark eyes were narrowed as he looked down into her silver ones.  “No more talk about your transference theory.  I want you, Raven.  I don’t want the woman who healed me.  I didn’t even know you were the doctor the first time I saw you. All I knew was that I wanted you and you were the hottest thing in ratty jeans I’d ever seen.  Then you bent over to help one of the little kids and I was lost.”  He watched as her eyes widened in surprise.  “Yes, I was watching you before you even knew I was awake.  So no more discussions about this doctor-patient stuff.  This is genuine lust I’m feeling.  And that you’re feeling so don’t even try to pretend otherwise,” he told her before he kissed her open lips again.
“Come on,” he said and pulled back, taking his glass of wine as he pulled her hand forward.  “I need your knowledge of the village and surrounding areas.  We haven’t found a trace of your rebel friends yet.”
He led her over to a table and pressed a button.  The top of the table opened up and an enormous map was revealed.
But then she looked closer and realized that it wasn’t a map but actually a satellite image of the village and the terrain around it.  “What’s going on?” she asked warily.
Turk’s dark eyes looked across the table at her and something in his eyes told her that this was very serious business.  She shivered, but for the first time since this man had shown up, she wasn’t sure what to say to him.
Turk watched her carefully, not sure if she might feel protective of the villagers and hinder his investigation.  He’d tracked the rebels to a hideout near her village, but would she help him?  “What do you know of this area?  What have you heard from your patients?” he asked.
Raven looked to the location he was pointing, compressing her lips.  “I’m not sure I know the actual area so much as what comes out of it,” she told him.
Turk was relieved when he heard the sincerity in her voice.  It didn’t sound as if she was trying to hide anything or protect anyone.  “Explain,” he said.
Raven took another sip of her wine, savoring it for a moment while she looked at the map, trying to get her bearings from the various landmarks.  When she finally figured out where she was, she leaned over the table and pointed to the mountainous area beside her village.  “This area isn’t inhabited as far as I know.  All of the people who came to the clinic for the usual reasons, such as pregnancy help, vaccinations, various broken bones or cuts, live in this area,” she said and pointed to another area on the other side of the village, at the base of a barren looking mountain.  “Having said that, I’ve heard rumors about strange happenings and there have been several accidents that seem to have happened in this area.”
“Why do you say that?” Turk asked, leaning his hands on the table’s edge.  The other three analysts had stopped what they were doing at the terminals and were hovering around the edge of the table as well, listening intently.
Raven bit her lip as she looked down at the map, wishing she could give Turk better clues.  “I’m not sure I can give you any specific reason.  It’s more of just a sense than anything with hard facts.  But several times, I’ve been out with the kids in the streets around this area, playing soccer or baseball, when someone drove in with a wounded person from this direction.”
