Hailey whispered as she tried to untangle her legs from the sheet and four male legs. Shit! Tony and Mark had the sheet pinned under them. “I’ve gotta get out of here.”
“Calm down,” Tony said, his voice still raspy with sleep. “I’ll take care of this. You and Mark hit the shower. No one will know you’re here.”
Hailey didn’t think. It was too early to think. She crawled over Mark and tumbled out of bed. Mark caught her before her knees hit the tile floor, saving her from some serious scrapes and bruises.
“Hang on. I’ve gotcha,” he said as he swung his legs over the side of the bed.
    Bang, bang, bang.
This time, an urgent, low, female voice followed the pounding. “I know you’re in there. Open up. We need to work on damage control. Now .”
Hailey looked over her shoulder at Tony, who was hurriedly stepping into a pair of cargo shorts. “That’s Meredith,” she croaked.
Tony nodded. “Yeah, I know. Go on.”
As Mark guided her to the bathroom with a hand at the back of her neck, she heard the sliding glass door open. She froze.
If she didn’t move, Meredith wouldn’t see her. Right?
“Are you crazy?” Meredith spat. “Did you forget about kayaking this morning?”
“Meredith, we’re not quite ready for guests,” Tony said, his words polite enough, but Hailey heard the low warning in his voice. He was pissed.
She gave up on invisibility and peeked around Mark’s broad shoulders to see Meredith striding briskly across the room. When Hailey realized she was wearing more than Mark, who was still naked, she edged in front of him.
Meredith either didn’t hear Tony’s anger or ignored it as she strode to the kitchen and started making coffee. “When Nikki couldn’t find Hailey, I told her she’d come down here for coffee and the tube so she wouldn’t wake up the rest of the main house. Turn the TV on, Tony, since you’re the only one halfway decent. Hailey, get a quick shower. I don’t know how much time we have before Jake or Nikki come down here to hurry y’all up. They can’t help but smell the sex on you. Mark, for God’s sake, put some pants on.”
Hailey was so stunned by the girl’s personality change that she couldn’t even feel embarrassed at the situation. What had happened to the ditzy, blonde party girl?
“This is why I don’t fall in love. It makes you stupid,” Meredith ranted. “Stupid, stupid, stupid. First, Nikki getting pregnant when she shouldn’t. Then, Landon getting his heart broken by that bitch when deeper pockets came along. Now, y’all humping like rabbits when you know Jake will kill you if…” She took a deep breath. “No, not if, but when he finds out. Stupid, stupid, stupid.” As the coffeemaker began to percolate, she turned backed to the silent group, glared directly at Hailey and pointed to the bathroom. “Shower, now .”
Hailey slunk to the door while Meredith turned her attention to Mark. “Pants, now .”
As Hailey closed the door behind her, she heard Meredith’s muffled voice. “Where are her clothes?”
Hailey leaned back against the door and embarrassed heat crept up her body. Meredith was right. They’d been careless. They should have set an alarm…or two, just in case.
She turned on the water in the oversized shower and while it warmed up, found a washcloth and towels in the white linen cabinet.
They had to be more careful if they were going to keep this from Jake. They’d been really careless last night.
She stepped under the warm water and moaned. Amazingly, she wanted Mark and Tony in the shower with her. Would she ever get enough of them? She’d probably need a couple of weeks of full-time sex to even begin to sate all of the longing she’d bottled up over the years.
Her fear of Jake finding her in Mark and Tony’s room made for a quick shower. She wrapped a towel around her when she remembered she didn’t have any clothes in the bathroom, unless she counted Mark’s shirt.
