repeated. “Are you serious?”
“Yes, I’m serious. I didn’t know what to say. I just stood there looking stupid.”
“Don’t worry, Red. I’ma kick that bitch’s ass for you. I knew she wasn’t your friend.”
“Nina, don’t go doing anything that will get us both locked up. I want to fight her so bad, but I have to be careful with what I do, because I work for her dad. I can’t lose my job over this. Besides, she don’t even know that I know.”
“I don’t understand how you even talked to her this morning to tell her you weren’t coming in. I would’ve cussed that bitch out.”
“I didn’t talk to her. I just text messaged her and explained that Anton wasn’t feeling well and I was taking him to the doctor. I know it was a lie, but I can’t work around her right now, because I know my temper.” They sat on Nina’s couch trying to figure out how to handle Sheila from this point forward.
“You got to feed her with a long handle spoon.” Nina suggested.
“I know, but how do I do that? It’s gonna be hard just working with her, because every time I look in her face I’ma think about how she’s despised me all this time and have always wanted to keep me beneath her. I’ve never hated on her or wished anything bad on her. I was a true friend to that bitch, and all along she was giving me her ass to kiss.” Scarlett was hurt and it showed in the way she looked in Nina’s eyes, wanting to cry.
“I’m sorry, Red. I always hoped that the bitch was on the up and up, and that I was overreacting because I didn’t want y’all to be friends, but I was right about her all along.” Nina shook her head. “I bet she hates how pretty you are with your hair done and shit. I mean, look at you. You look amazing and I bet she can’t stand it. It’s eating the bitch up as we speak.”
“She has been saying slick shit about my new look, but I just figured it was gonna take some time for her to get used to me looking this way.”
“Why should it take a real friend time to get used to her home girl looking good? Hell, she should be happy for you and boosting your confidence some more, by saying nice things about the way you look.”
“I know right.” Scarlett agreed.
“That bitch is a natural born hater. Who would’ve ever guessed it?” Nina said. “Have you told Jay about her trifling ass yet?”
“No, and I don’t think I will. Not right now, anyway. He called me last night, but I was so outdone I didn’t know what to say about it. I didn’t even know how to mention it. I was glad he was tired and wanted to get some rest and I told him I needed to do the same thing. We ended the call and that was it. He did text message me this morning and told me to take care of Anton and he’ll see me later.”
“Did you tell him that Anton was sick too?”
“Nope, but I’m certain Sheila did because she was the only one I told that lie to. I figured he must’ve asked about me or something.”
“Or maybe she just volunteered your business. No telling what all she says about you.”
“You have a point, Nina. It’s no telling.”

Anton lay across his bed, feeling a bit saddened by the events that had gone down. His thoughts were all over the place concerning the women in his life. Samantha was his girl, and he never thought she’d make him feel the way he did about her. She was everything he wanted in a girlfriend and he couldn’t ask for much more. He liked Miley because she was a down chick, but didn’t see a future with her other than having relations. He needed more, and felt that Samantha was the one who could give it to him.
Gwen was heavily glued to his mind as well. There was no telling where she stayed at through the night or what she was doing that morning. He constantly worried about her well-being and was scared he’d get a call telling him that somebody had found her dead somewhere from an overdose.
He sighed and turned over onto his back, looking up at the
